I am off to set construction for I'LL BE BACK BEFORE MIDNIGHT!  To be followed by PIPPIN auditions.  Yesterday I went to the Goodwill store and got:

a Panasonic PV1220 Top Loading VCR (the play takes place in 1985) 4.99
a plank coffee table 6.99
a plank end table 4.99
two lamps 3.99 each
one small desk clock .99
one silver picture frame 1.99
one framed J.MacDonald Henry print 1.99
one cassette recorder 1.99
two Pioneer stereo speakers 7.99
one pair of curtains 4.99

I love to go shopping as a Production Designer/Set Decorator - even if the set isn't built yet.  And YES the VCR works!

Just wanted to pop in quickly. We closed the show last night and had a LONG cast party afterward. Didn't get home until after 3 a.m. so this explains my absence here. Going today to help clean the theater, so I must get cleaned up now so I can go get dirty at the theater.

Ah, the things we do for the arts!

Yes, yes, Una O'Connor.  I had Merkel on the brain - a rare condition.

Last night, during our frenzy, I said, "Wait until the hainsies/kimlets log on in the morning, won't they be surprised."  Unforunately, only five or so have logged on in the morning.  Isn't that a bit of annoying.  I mean, Pogue did a complete comedy routine, for heaven's sake, and the errant and truant are just sleeping, or going about their business doing this or that.  I tell you, these kids today...

And Ann - where is dear reader Ann with her play report?

At about 8:40 this morning we had a little shaker here in the City of Studio.  It was mild, thank goodness, but it's always unnerving.

I'm the only one here?  Danise reads and runs?  Is this the end of Rico?

You'd think it was a Sunday or something.

I'd say "You're all looking at my this, aren't you?" but there'd be no one to answer.

I'd say, "And now - Dino at the piano" but there'd be no one here to listen.

It think this site has been a victim of a

Hi folks,

We had some really bad weather the past couple of days. The power has been going on and off so I only jumped on the computer for very brief periods.

I've been doing a lot of TV/DVD watching.

One commercial I've seen more then a few times was the Mens Warehouse for suits.  The guy promoting it states that "Every man should have at least one suit."  So I thought I'd ask,  How many suits do the guys of HHW own?

Good luck with getting the job vibes to Jeb!

I'm also sorry I missed Anthony’s Birthday!  Very Happy Belated Birthday Wishes to Anthony!

I’m so glad that DR’s Elmore and Ben had a nice visit.  I take it that means that DR Elmore is doing well.  Glad news there.

Continued get well vibes to DR TomovOz.  I want to hear that you and DP Colin went out dancing!

Oh, and BTW, would you believe that the new neighbors moved into the mausoleum yesterday during the storm.  Joy.  Sigh.

Lastly, I'm glad that DR Jane and DH Keith are having a good time but I will be glad to see DR Jane posting again.  I miss her.  Bird poop on the head, huh?  A new fashion?   NOT!  Chuckle.   ;D

First job.  I was a........Telemarketer!  Gasp!  Horrors!  For a whole four hours!  I left at lunch and never went back, not even to pick up my check for those four hours.

I still feel bad that I talked an old lady into buying the junk I was selling.  One of those "coupon" books.  Ugh.

I didn’t read and run, BK, honest—I was reading.  I don’t know why I disappeared but I do have to take the doggies for a walk and then mow the lawn if it’s dry enough.

Laters all!

Mr. Barnum, I assume you are on line this morning because you are preparing for your drive north to see ANNIE GET YOUR GUN.  Or is that next Sunday, before you drive back down to Portland for BK's reception?

I do not miss earthquakes.

Not that I minded them that much, but I do not miss them.

(I wonder if this is a jolt from above, a reminder to the Jackson jury to come to a decision already!)

I spotted my first firefly of the season a couple of nights ago.

Last night, through my bedroom window facing the crick in back, the woods were flickering with the little buggers.  Gorgeous!

My first paying job was during college, at a pizza parlor.  It was part of a chain, and frankly they made very mediocre pizzas.

Rule of thumb, I'm discovering: Most people are not jerks.  However, if a person is a jerk, they will often be a jerk in multiple ways simultaneously.

I had a customer yesterday who insisted that the price that the computer was billing her for goods was not what had been posted.  I called over the floor manager, who did a check.  No, what was listed was the same as what had been posted.  The same customer, after the manager had left, then complained about another item, same kind of complaint.  Floor manager returned, with the customer dogging her steps (and holding up everyone in my checkout line), and found what the computer had listed was the same as what was posted.

The customer paid what she owed, but insisted that we had changed the sign.  Not bloody likely, not at six in the evening, during peak shopping hours.

It pays to be able to smile, and move on to the next customer as if the previous exchange had never happened.

 :-\

(But, so far, I'm getting good marks from management.)

Well, I own three different jackets but none of them fit. ::) I don't really like to wear suits and I usually avoid situations where I need to. ;)

Good morning all.  Didn't have the energy to post a review last night, just caught up on posts and we went off to bed.
Well, Annie did indeed get her gun.  She also got her man.  Gotta love happy endings.  All in all, a very well done community production.  DR's Tom and Jed were, of course, highlights of the show.  They work marvelously as a duo on stage, a true father/son team...as demonstrated when they both decided to cover another actor's line, and said it in perfect unsion without even looking at one another :)
Annie was very good, overall.  She had a great take on the character, and was an excellent dancer.  My only complaint was that she let the "twang" in her voice get so heavy that it was hard to understand her lyrics sometimes.  Spoken dialogue was just fine, but song lyrics often got totally lost.
The rest of the show was, as TCB mentioned, a very well-paced affair.  A few little interesting moments...great cameo for the SM as the lights came up on her moving a set piece off stage, and whomever was running the revolve was apparently napping backstage for most of the show.
In general, it got some great laughs from the audience.  They especially loved Sitting Bull's parts, for some reason.  And Tommy managed to make it on stage for all of his scenes, so I'd call the show a success :)

Thank you, dear lady, for the kind words.  Jed is indeed a pleasure to work with.  I hope you had a good time out with the cast last evening.  You will have to give me your personal take on those present (Jed excluded).

And indeed I shall...perhaps when Jed and I take you out for your Father's Day meal?  Whenever we manage to do it, that is.
And why exclude Jed?  Where's the fun in that? :)

TOD -
My first job was at a Methodist-run "retreat center" located about 30 minutes outside of Ellensburg.  I worked in the kitchen, washed dishes, prepped food, cleaned bathrooms, washed floors...the usual grunt work.  The worst was having to make the drive at 5 in the morning when I was on breakfast duty.  I worked that job for two summers, and occasionally during the school year, during my junior and senior years.

Good afternoon, fellow Dear Readers. I am back from church for a bite to eat, then off to an hours-long board meeting, where I'm sure we'll argue about many things.

Whether or not I'll be able to make the trek down to Portland depends on my work schedule for that day.  We're rather short-staffed at the moment, so I feel uncomfortable asking for any actual time off.  But if they happen to schedule me for the 7:30-4 shift that day, then the trip shall be made.  We shall see.

I am sitting here NOT eating any of the yummilicous pasta salad that DR Jed prepared before leaving for the show.  It is intended for the cast gathering tonight, and I will NOT partake of any myself...really...I swear...

I just got out of the shower (and am dresses:  blue jeans and my 2004 Relay For Life t-shirt).  I'm waiting for my usher black jeans and black shirt to be done washing so that I can dry them and wear them to usher tonight.  It's a local ballet school's end-of-year recital.  They actually scheduled four different times and I don't have to show up until the last batch, so I have some time to kill.

Bang!  I just killed some time! ;)
