I moved from Los Angeles to Connecticut in the middle of 3rd grade. In California, they hadn't taught the cursive writing unit. When I got to Connecticut, they had already done it. So I fell through the cracks. I taught myself, but it was never pretty.

I had the same experience but it was the multiplication tables and the beginning if 4th grade

How young is your cousin? There's a guy on YouTube whose channel I follow and he's in his early 30s. He gets mail from viewers but he confesses that he can't read cursive if the viewers send hand-written notes to him. You'd think he would've learned, but nope.

He just had his 14th birthday.
