Friday evening, Fr. Richard went to the Dayton ‘burbs to conduct a service and Rob went to their former church to attend one.  Charlotte and her Mama and Gram stayed home and watched “Easter Parade.”  Charlotte applauded after each dance number.

Our niece Lauren, son J (age 7, almost), and her mother Jayne came for Saturday lunch.  We ordered burgers from The Jug and Granddad brought home Central Pastry cookies for dessert.  Lauren set up an Easter egg hunt in our backyard and J and Charlotte had a great time.

Saturday evening we colored a few Easter eggs.  Last year, at her house, Charlotte was content to sit in her high chair and watch us do it.  But this year she hollered, “I try!” so she sat in Rob’s lap and she and Mama took turns.

Easter morning, Fr. Richard went back to Beavercreek to celebrate and I went with Charlotte’s family to their former church.  We all stopped at Kroger on the way home - Richard for ice, Rob for gas, and me for wine.  We then prepared our traditional Easter feast of green (Jello) eggs and ham, cheesy potatoes, green beans, and yeast rolls.

Richard’s brother David and his wife Kathy arrived about 4.  Aunt Kathy won Charlotte’s heart with a plushy Peppa Pig and everyone else’s with bunny cakes from Servatii Bakery in Cincinnati.  Charlotte crashed as soon as they left and Gram wasn’t far behind.

Sounds like a great visit, Ginny.

Yes, DR John G, it was and we’ll see them in just one short month when we gather in Michigan for an early celebration of Charlotte’s second birthday at her other grandparents’ home.

Why, you might be wondering, are we celebrating Charlotte’s birthday early?

Well, it’s because shortly after her actual birthday in June she will receive a really special present:

A BABY SISTER!!!

Thanks, DR John G!  My sister-in-law Kathy, who also has an only son, and I are enjoying granddaughters together.  She has 2 already and left yesterday morning to visit them in Colorado.

From DR John:
Quote
I like all books that retell the Greek myths. I remember finding this one sad and lovely. You know the ending, which makes all the choices they make sad. You can’t stop it from coming. Yet his relationship with his lover was really well handled.

With a description this beautiful how can I not read it.

DR vixmom, were the four dogfs your brother's or did another guest bring them over?

They belong to my brother and his wife. They have Westie show dogs

Westies are our favorite small dogs.  Our upstairs dog we love is a Westie.

Vixmom, it's a shame that there was so little wine left when you got to the bottle.

I would love to know the size of her glass.  I have never gotten that many glasses out of one bottle.

The wine glasses I use just for me are small.

DR JOHN G mentioned Miss Shirley Temple a couple of days ago.

I remember a story in Buddy Ebsen's book - if you've heard it, move along.....

He was supposed to do a routine with Temple in Captain January.  Now I don't like his "eccentric" style of dance - Ray Bolger does the same thing.....and he's certainly not the easiest face to look at even back in 1936.  He worked for several days on the dance.  One morning a limo pulled up to the rehearsal hall and Temple got out.

He started to show her the routine.  Eight year old Temple said:  "Is the routine set yet?"  And he said: "No."  And Temple said: "Call me when it's set."  She got into her limo and left.

;D  It actually was an intelligent response.
