Taking a break from Nero Wolfe and watching Harold Lloyd in Speedy, a great silent film with Babe Ruth in a supporting role. Fun stuff.

The book I'm listening to right now is called Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. It's by Benjamin Alire Saenz,, and it's set in El Paso. I was telling a friend at work today about it, because she's from El Paso. It turns out that Saenz had been married to her cousin, a judge in El Paso, but they divorced when he came out.

She wasn't sure until she saw a picture of him on Google. His Wikipedia page even refers to his having been married to a judge.

Turns out most of her family ostracized Saenz because he's gay, which he uses in the book to describe how a family treats an aunt. .

Back from a very good show - a couple of mic issues, but other than that, very smooth and we had a wonderful audience and much larger than last Friday's paltry Passover crowd. Some even got up and danced at the end, which we love. Very light for tomorrow night, though, so I'm going to see what I can do about that.

A couple of years ago, the silent movie series with live organ music at the Washington Center for Performing Arts showed Speedy and it was great!
