I’m listening to a fun recording of Beethoven’s symphonies 2 and 5 stripped down to three players. Emmanuel Ax on piano, Yo-Yo Ma on cello and Leonidas Kavakos on violin. Really lovely.

Well, our $2,200,000 budget passed the first hurdle today.

That's great, Larry!

(I had no idea that it would be that much! :-\ )

It's rather ambitious: four studio cast recordings, one semi-original cast recording, total of 10 CDs, one a 4-disc set.

I am wondering who among you has had cataract surgery.

My doctor at the VA wants me to have surgery on the 9th of May.

In order to do this, I must have an appointment on the 2nd of May, I was told, for preparation.

Oddly, to me, I have THREE appointments on the 2nd of May: One at 9:30, one at 12:30 and one at 1:30.  I cannot imagine having to be briefed by three different offices for one procedure.

I believe one is for anesthesia, but what the other two are I haven't a clue.

Any ideas?

Anesthesia?  Won't you be awake for this?

I'm thinking it will be some form of localized anesthetic to deaden the eye.  That's what I don't know yet.

That sounds about right.

The book is nonfiction, however, the author admits taking narrative liberties and composing dialogue, and occasionally juggled chronology “to create a smoother story line”.

That 4-CD set makes me curious. Could it be Merlin? Or Sarava?

And it's:  Tech Week!

At least I don't have to be at rehearsals till 4pm each day, except today when I'll go in early to get set up in the pit.

Monday evening greetings!  We did some errands today and had lunch at Main Street Deli in Springboro.  They’re in a new location, still on Main Street.  The sandwiches were as good as ever, but you no longer get chips and a pickle unless you order a “combo” for an additional charge.

I'm up, I'm up - all told, about nine and a half hours of sleep - here's how it went. Slept maybe two hours from 3:30 to 5:30. Up for ninety minutes. Slept from  6:30 to app 9:30 - the publisher called, so I had that conversation then we got them all the book files, so they're now in possession of all that and doing their initial check-in process, which usually takes two or three days, after which it goes to the designer team. Back to bed at 10:30, slept till 3:30. I think the math doesn't work, but I know I got nine and a half.

DR Ron,  I had cataract surgery in 2017 and my husband followed in 2019.  I suspect one of your appointments will be for taking measurements to determine the size of the lens to be implanted.  And, yes, you’ll be semi-awake, but still under the care of an anesthesiologist.

You may also be meeting with someone who will explain the pre-op and post-op eye drops routine.

Ron, they really should explain all this to you. Maybe that's why they scheduled so many appointments.

They usually do one eye first, then the second one a few weeks later. During the interim your glasses will not work well for you! I was unable to drive until the second eye was done.

There's a complicated schedule for prescription eye drops that must be adhered to for maybe 10 days in advance. No eye drops, no surgery. I had 3 prescriptions, each on a different schedule. Again, they need to be clear on this and should give it to you in writing and be available for questions.

I had "twilight anesthesia," which is supposedly a dreamlike state. I was out cold and felt no pain. The procedure only takes about 15 minutes, but you may have some pain afterwards.
