The one (Vidalia) onion and tomato salad I ever had at a restaurant (in the Atlanta area) was incredible. I sometimes try to recreate it at home, to varying degrees of success. This had to be 20 years ago, and I don't know the name of the restaurant, but it was a good steakhouse kind of place and I'm sure that kind of salad is very common there.
I also remember when I was around high school age, my mother introduced me to something she liked to make for herself: an onion sandwich -- just a slice of onion on buttered white bread with salt and pepper -- and I loved it. Haven't had one in years, but now that I'm thinking about it...
Anyhoo... the above two paragraphs should, I hope, amply demonstrate that in the future, all unwanted onion and tomato sandwiches should be put in a cooler and air-freighted, posthaste, to the following address...
