Monitor - on the wall above guitars and bass, opposite the MD's keyboard. It's a new 4k screen, fed by a video camera that, in keeping with the '70s theme, must be from the '70s. The resulting image is B&W, and of such abysmal quality (no detail, no contrast, I glance over at it and often can't even tell that there are people against the background), that it doesn't meet the average standard of early kinescopes.

The Midnight Library was a good discussion.  And I think I missed a good one when we were in Michigan.  It was a Joyce Carol Oates round table and, apparently, the overall consensus was not favorable.  But sometimes the best discussions are of books we didn’t particularly like.

Thanks.  I too liked The Midnight Library.  I don't want to reread for a discussion.  I agree sometimes the best discussions are with books we don't like, I just don't want to intentionally choose a book I won't enjoy

Not stupid, just lack of exposure which is kind of nice.  I am guessing you were older before watching, or reading, A Gentleman's Agreement. I found some interesting facts in Wikipedia about the making of the film I was not aware of.

" Zanuck decided to make a film version of Hobson's novel after being refused membership in the Los Angeles Country Club, because it was assumed (incorrectly) that he was Jewish. Before filming commenced, Samuel Goldwyn and other Jewish film executives approached Darryl Zanuck and asked him not to make the film, fearing it would "stir up trouble". They also warned that Hays Code enforcer Joseph Breen might not allow the film to pass the censors, as he had been known to make disparaging remarks about Jews. There was also concern that Dorothy McGuire's character being divorced would offend the National Legion of Decency.

The role of Phillip Green was first offered to Cary Grant, but he turned it down. Peck decided to accept the role, although his agent advised him to refuse, believing Peck would be endangering his career. Jewish actor John Garfield agreed to play a lesser role in the film to be a part of it."

Oh no, I wouldn’t survive in that cramped space.  Honestly, they couldn’t pay me enough.

The “loft” is 8’x16’ and my own setup in it is the single most cramped ever. And yet I pulled off the miracle of making everything within it work to my OCD’s satisfaction. That took time, and me going in early and working it alone, one piece and one cable and one inch at a time. There’s no hell on earth like when all six are in there doing it at the same time. So what started out as the worst spot (shhh, don’t tell anybody) is now the best. My own little corner, indeed.

In other news, I just nearly had a close encounter with a bear. Fortunately, he heard me coming with the lawnmower and darted across the driveway into the woods about 50 feet in front of me. Hey, I just had a great idea for the title of a musical.

I am very proud of my grand nephew.  For the first time in three years he got a haircut to donate to make wigs for cancer patients.
