It’s titled “Between The Lines”.
Have seen excerpts, and it looks and sounds good.

It sounds charming.

DR John why did you ask about Picoult?

I started Wish You Were Here and got sucked in. Pandemic novel. I haven’t read her before.

Starting The Worst Person in the World. The first 15 minutes are nimble and exceptionally well crafted. Easy to see why the movie was so praised. Hope it continues.

It seems the library will be forcing me to change from Overdrive to Libby.

Everyone will have to change in early 2023 as they are getting rid of overdrive. I use both libby and overdrive. I prefer overdrive. But my main issue with libby is that you can't recommend books through the app. But you can through overdrive.

I watched a video on the new Libby and groaned.

I think that you should get the app now and just get used to it. Even if you still use overdrive. You can connect them together. Libby does make it easier to view the newly added books.

Has anyone changed to Libby yet?

Yup, and not really a fan.  I use my Kindle and download directly from Amazon, so the Libby app is unecessary...at least, for me.

How it is unnecessary? Don't you have to see what books you want from the app?

So, everyone here prefers OverDrive, so, of course, that’s the one they’re getting rid of.

I think that it's older. I mostly just prefer it because of being able to suggest books months in advance (that i then get put to the front of the line). And i do also find the fonts and choices to read a bit better on overdrive.  But Libby is much easier to see the newly added books.

As long as I can still get my books through it, I guess I'll survive.

I have to say that the bulk of this 1st day of August was a big NOTHING BURGER, but it was filling and not unpleasant.

Still.  I hope the 2nd day of August is more rewarding.

And with that, I shall say hooray for our termination of the leader of Al-Qaeda who was killed in that drone strike over the weekend in Kabul.  He was Zawahiri and Bin Laden's "brain", as Rachel Maddow puts it.

I am going to call it "a night" for that is what it is right now in Johston SC.  I realize the sun has not yet set on the left coast, but it's on its way and has left darkness hereabouts.

Nighty night!

Oh, and to respond to JohnG's greeting to me at one point yesterday, "Hello, John"!

It's my understanding that they're just getting rid of the OverDrive app, not OverDrive itself, and moving to the Libby app exclusively.

I usually have a book in mind, then go to my library's OverDrive website on my computer, then if it's available, I check it out, which kicks me to Amazon's website where I check it out there, then I go to my Amazon "Content and Devices" and download it by USB cable to my Kindle.

This may seem very cumbersome (actually, it is), but I do this because I may not want to read something right away (and I don't have a lot of time to read, and I read kind of slowly), so I don't turn on the wi-fi on my Kindle (or I keep it on Airplane mode).

I download it and right away check IN the item on my library's OverDrive site so that it becomes available for the next patron, BUT it doesn't go away from my Kindle!  It's called "working the system." ;)

This way, I can collect titles and especially series that may have a lot of holds on the earlier titles, but not always on the later ones.
