In September 1997, Ian Marshall Fisher's seres of musicals in concert, Lost Musicals, was going to produce my reconstruction of Jubilee, which they had been advertising as "the Princess DianazM usical," since Diana is the name of the Princess in the musical.

I do not know two things: if the cast were the same as the 1999 production with the BBC Concert Orchestra or if that 1997 production was to be with piano or orchestra. What I do know is that, after the performance run, the cast was going to Abbey Road where John Yap was going to record the complete score, including all music not performed in the concerts.

The Cole Porter Trust had supplied me with two air tickets to London and the performances, and on August 31 John Yap was in negotiation to cast Brent Barrett as Mowgli, the Johnny Weismuller parody.
Kim Criswell as cast as Karen O'Kane, the Ginger Rogers parody. I called Brent and begged him to take thew role.

And then the news about the death in Paris of Princess Diana and the production was cancelled. I was in Footlight Records where I rean into a friend - I no longer remember who it was - who asked me how I was. I said, Terrible. Princess Diana died and took my career with her.

By 1999. the two crazy Brits Ian Marshall Fisher and John Yap were no longer on amiable terms and thus ended the only opportunity so far to get a complete recording of Jubilee made. In 2013, before I recorded Roberta, the head of rthe foundation asked about recording Jubilee, which I wish now we had done, instead of the Kern show. My thought was we should do Roberta, see how Rob Berman and the orchestra worked together, and then plan for a larger cast for Jubilee. And the foundfation went belly up.

I got all the pictures taken except two....and hopefully someone will do that for me tonight. The two said performers - being the professionals that they are - decided they weren't coming to rehearsal until 8 p.m. last night.....and I wasn't going to wait around for them....
