Had a lousy night of sleep. My kidneys kept getting me up every few hours. There was also a bout of sleeplessness during which I finished off Woody Allen’s latest book, Zero Gravity.

The Alexandrov Red Army Chorus just sang Dark Eyes, aka Ochi Chorniya (phonetically spelled). Outside of My Man Godfrey, Shop Around the Corner and a few Fred and Ginger movies, I don’t think I had ever heard the song.

Now the chorus is singing Those Were the Days with the Leningrad Cowboys. This concert movie is a real trip.
