I'm up, I'm up - almost twelve hours of much needed and glorious sleep.

I came here thinking I'd missed someone's birthday, but maybe I hadn't.

I think I have managed to turn off the radiator. It seems cooler in here. I got to the last page of the Overture and spilled water on it, so I need to redo it. I took a dinnewr break, and I will shortly finish it up.

That's taking a watermark too far, DR elmore3003.

But I discovered they were offering streaming tickets so I bought one of those and was able to watch the show from the comfort of my recliner

Perfect.

We went to a friend's home for brunch today.  Then we took her eight year old daughter to Powell's Books to buy her birthday present.

The entire time she was jumping and bouncing around, which also included hugs and hand holding.

She knew exactly what she wanted, graphic novels.  I had no idea they were popular for younger children.  I only recognized one book, A Wrinkle in Time, and I know that didn't begin as a graphic novel ;D

When we entered the store she asked if she could get a shenanigans at the checkout when we left.  I thought that was a name for a toy or game.  Turns out it is her name for little toys.

Within 10 minutes she had picked out 3 books.  Finding where the shenanigans were took longer since they weren't by the checkout line.  She said she is permitted one shenanigan when shopping there.  Keith told her for her birthday she could have two, and then we bought her three :)

This kid is a hoot.  I was amazed at the speed she shopped.  When we took her older sister we spent an hour looking at books, and I was familiar with them and Keith with most of them.

I've been up since 5 a.m. and out all day playing a church service and a matinee, and I've done that on two cups of coffee, a piece of a blueberry coffee cake thing, and a one-bite-size Almond Joy before the show. So guess what? I'm going to change and get comfortable and...eat something.  :)  Whereupon I will be back to catch up on what's going on today.

That sounds like a lovely outing, DR Jane.

Brings back memories of when visiting my grandparents as a child. They'd take me to the bookstore for a special purchase. Wonderful memories.

I would get lost reading and didn't hear any of the conversations going on around me. Until there would be dead silence, and I'd look up from my book, and everyone was staring at me.

What fun special memories.  I have no memories of being taken to a book store as a child, only the library.

Our friend has a boyfriend from Germany.  Today we met his lovely mother who baked an incredible German marzipan tart.  I ate way too much.
