There were only three of us at the party last night....so we talked for a long time and then played a few games of UNO.

I came in second out of three.....that's a fun game.

I also read about MR BK's school  LA CITY COLLEGE and their ban on Bermuda Shorts on male students in 1958.....I wonder if the ban had been lifted by the time MR BK attended.....

Dang, but Irene Dunne was really good. I forget that until I see her again in something.

Tom, there supposedly is a masturbation scene in the new Oklahoma! It’s when they’re looking at dirty pictures in Jud’s place.

Well at the Goodwill store on Friday, I found a paperback copy of 100 Ray Bradbury stories.

And the first story in the book - all chosen by Mr B himself - was my favorite of his stories....."The Whole Town Is Asleep" from Dandelion Wine - my favorite Bradbury collection.

What is everyone's favorite Ray Bradbury story - if you have one.

Not having read "The Whole Town Is Asleep", I just rectified that.  Thank you for mentioning it.

I have always been partial to "The Pedestrian" as it was the first Ray Bradbury story I read.

As strange as it may seem I only knew who Ray Bradbury was since I occasionally sat next to his daughter on the school bus.  and then because someone mentioned to me who she was.  Who he was didn't mean much to me until he came and spoke at our school, making him the first author I ever heard speak.

Bradbury spoke about his experience with a policeman while out walking at night, which led to his writing "The Pedestrian".

Dick and Oscar - probably Mary, too - would have closed this Fish-y production down before it went anywhere. I have no idea if it exists because Ted Chapin allowed it or not, but I hope this tour loses its shirt.

DR JANE I also like The Pedestrian.

DR CHAS SMITH unfortunately, the few episodes of the Ray Bradbury Theatre I have seen were bad....bad.....bad....so I avoid it.

Glad you liked that story DR JANE - it's from DANDELION WINE, my favorite RB Book of stories.....which also has A Dish Of Lime Vanilla Ice Cream.

Finished Zola’s Earth, which was really melodramatic and soap opera-ish. All this sex and violence. I really enjoyed it.

This afternoon’s matinee is He Who Must Die, a Jules Dassin filmed based on a Nikos Kazantzakis novel. Set in Greece, but a French film from France. Melina Mercouri plays a Mary Magdalene character in a town’s staging of the Passion Play.

The Turks are the evil enemy in this film. The Agha is portrayed as a pedophile with a whip-bearing teen boy by his side.

We finished Bros. It was all right. The problem is that they just don't make rom-coms (in general) as good as they used to.

I'm up, I'm up - I guess I got eight hours somehow - I was up almost every two hours during the evening. Very irritating.

BK, are you considering purchasing the new Mitropoulos box set?

I got it the day it came out. Search the notes, I wrote about it quite a bit over the week it took me to listen to it all.
