Here are some suggested phrases for testing a microphone (instead of "testing, 1, 2, 3...")

    • The small pup gnawed a hole in the sock.
    • The fish twisted and turned on the bent hook.
    • Press the pants and sew a button on the vest.
    • The swan dive was far short of perfect.
    • The beauty of the view stunned the young boy.
    • Two blue fish swam in the tank.
    • Her purse was full of useless trash.

I always say, "Please let it work the first time. Please, please, please."[/list]

DR Ginny, that is shocking, and would have to be pretty scary, that a window actually got broken from that.

We have bird strikes, too, and sometimes they sound like a pretty hard hit. But I'll go out expecting to find the victim without much difficulty, and...nothing. Nathan knows birds, and he says they survive hits like that and fly away immediately much more often than you'd imagine.

Yeah, it wasn’t going to end well either way for the little bird, but apparently the big guy flew away to hunt again.

I listened to DR LAURA's link and then went ahead and listened to my two favorite songs from the show - not being a soloist - The Farmer & The Cowman and Oklahoma!

Underwhelming.....and why were they singing some of their "h's" like Patsy Cline with a yodel?  And some folks just did it now and then and not on all of their lyrics.

Last Thursday my nephew and his wife had twin boys - Duke and Nolan.

Duke has dark hair and Nolan has blond hair - so I don't think they're identical twins.

They join their almost three year old brother Grayson.  Unless he's almost two - I shall have to figure out when he was hatched.

    From Bruce:

    Quote
Watching a lovely movie - Swedish - A Man Called Ove. Of course, it's been remade for the US and is coming out in pure Oscar-bait fashion on Christmas Day starring Tom Hanks, who I'm sure in pure Oscar-bait fashion, will be nominated. I cannot imagine it will be as charming and heartfelt as the Swedish film, nor can I imagine a better performance than Rolf Lassgard, who was Wallendar in the first series of Swedish films and then the titular chapter in another Swedish crime series, Sebastian Bergman. More in the notes, but if you want to get a jump on it - it's free on Amazon Prime.

As much as I like Tom Hanks I really have no interest in watching the film.  I agree with everything regarding the Swedish film.

Ginny, another possibility is that a hawk chased prey into the window and then took it after it hit the window.

    Interesting possibility.

DR Ginny, is the window that broke situated across from another window on the opposite side of the house, where it might look to a bird like a pass-through?

That doesn't matter.  It still looks like open space into a room.  Then sadly they hit hard and loud.

I saw the trailer for the new Tom Hanks movie the other day.  I didn't realize it was a remake of a Swedish movie.  Thanks for the heads-up, BK.  I'm going to watch "A Man Called Ove."

I just watched the two different trailers.  Otto is cutesy while Ove is charming.

I wonder if there was a small, unnoticed crack in the window before the bird hit it.
