I have just ordered a dry-erase whiteboard for my desk. Since I am constantly writing down sensitive information, which has to be shredded, I think this will be a better solution.

I fell asleep with the TV on, and because I woke a few times before finally turning it off, I had a few crazy dreams at various times during the night. They were a combination of familiar dream themes along with references from yesterday and from current and recent musical activities. Oh, and Putin was included - in a segment completely unlike the others which was actually based on the Darrell Brooks trial. Absolutely incredible. What's really crazy is that while these ferkakte dreams are going on, we believe it all.

I watched that movie Score a few years ago and thought it was okay but not great. A year or so after that I saw it again and had a much higher opinion of it. It most definitely does not cover the older Hollywood composers to the extent that it should, no question. But it's surprisingly good for what it is. If it were to be more comprehensive and balanced, it would have to have been a two- or three-parter.

We should get Ken Burns on that. I'm sure he'd do a bang-up job.

DR Jane, the annual Medicare open enrollment is already underway. The general health insurance open enrollment (for non-Medicare, Federal and State insurance exchanges) is the one that runs from Nov 1 to Jan 15 for 2023 coverage.

Well, each state that has their own exchange can set whatever enrollment window they like, but to avoid confusion, most states mirror the Federal window.

What if you used cheese ravioli instead of lasagna noodles in a lasagna?

You would need to re-name it.

I must reschedule my dental surgery today.

My primary care physician will prescribe a dose of something for me to take prior to surgery once I have set a date.

Have rescheduled for one week from today.   Sigh.

Maybe, but I'd still love to try it! :)

Speaking of film composers - I watched A Stolen Life starring Bette Davis and Bette Davis with a film score by Max Steiner.....and was a bit puzzled to find a few musical cues that were used in the film A Summer Place.....a dozen years later.....maybe Mr Steiner just like them so much, he wanted us to hear them again.

Back from the O.D., with a fresh supply of contact lenses but no new prescription --

Because the next step in vision improvement for me will be to go for the consultation on cataract surgery. After several years of knowing it's eventually coming, it's time now. Or just about time. The next doctor will determine that for sure.

Thankfully, my eyes are in very healthy shape otherwise.

Too bad my wallet isn't, as I am now $421 the poorer.

It's so weird. Medicare (and I suppose my supplemental?) covers the basic exam, but not the contact lens evaluation or the refraction fee or the retinal imaging or the lenses. Gee, thanks for the help.

I always wonder, as regards health insurance plans, when exactly our eyes and teeth were determined to not be part of our bodies, to the point that even now in 2022 they get such little coverage.

I sympathize, DR ChasSmith.

Add brains to the list. Mental health has always been sadly lagging behind, as well.

From DR John:
Quote
Jane, have you had your book discussion yet? Just read in Shy that Edna Ferber shared a balcony with Richard Rodgers and became kind of a proxy parent to Mary.

We meet on Monday, and fingers crossed I can go.  Thanks, I will share this with the group.

I guess at some point, everything shows up. Go to 2:39 - I did this as a favor to the director, who I'd worked with on The Partridge Family - had no memory of it other than it was at a gas station in Burbank. Who knew I played a scene with Dean Jones? Not me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8bsQuaZayQ

That was fun, and funny you didn't know it was Dean Jones.

Interesting solution.  Is the whiteboard safe from spying eyes ;)
