There was some rain last night which, as far as I knew, was totally unexpected. So now everything's wet and I can't get out there and blow leaves or do much of anything else. Which is fine. That waits till tomorrow, when I must start in on a few solid weeks of outdoor work and get this place cleaned up. Today I must work on music prep for tonight, and do a little housework indoors.

More coffee!

And some toast. I picked up a loaf of Rustik Oven Italian bread, a new one for them, that I want to try.

It's going to be in the 70s here the next few days. Wild!

More recovery vibes for Bill. Strange story about the flu.

I wonder if his breathing with that affected his being under anesthesia during the surgery.

George, we only have Libby anymore. No more Overdrive.

There is that, but you can still go online to your library's OverDrive site.  For instance, mine is:

https://timberland.overdrive.com/

I much prefer that to the Libby app.

TCB, yes Bill now lives alone as his husband, Joe, passed away earlier this year.

I do have that one on some DVD or other, and it's another that I need to introduce to Kristi and Nathan since we've been on a bit of a Lovecraft kick these past couple of years. So many of the adaptations are fair to middling (not that there are that many of them, even now), but that certainly is another that's not to be missed.

I recognized the Dunwich director's name, Daniel Haller, but couldn't remember why. He directed another of Corman's Lovecraft adaptations, Die, Monster, Die! (with Karloff - based on "The Color Out of Space"), a childhood favorite of mine.

I think I'd always wanted to see The Shuttered Room back in the day, but it never happened. My viewing of it on DVD might have been my first time.

Of course there is also Corman's The Haunted Palace, the Poe-titled Lovecraft story. That's a favorite, too, in part due to Ronald Stein's score.

Isn't that Gounod's entrance aria for Juliet in his opera "Romeo and Juliet?"

TOD: I watched Creature From the Black Lagoon when I was a kid. It scared me for quite some time. I learned young not to watch scary movies.

I liked Reanimator back in the day. More recently, I saw the original and the remake of Suspira. The colors in the Suspira films were gorgeous. Jessica Harper in the original was her true neurotic brilliant self.

In Evil Dead 2, I loved the artificial nature of it. Blood was buckets of paint. As I recall it was sometimes blue or white. Funny.

Years ago, my backdoor neighbor had three ginger cats who loved coming into my yard. They loved their petting and a little extra food. To me, they were Thomas Stearns, Tiktok and Dizzy. And they came over for a couple of years.

Two nights ago, another sweet ginger appeared, wanting petting and eating a little. She came back last night for more of the same. I hope she’s going to be a regular.

I went looking for her later, but instead of seeing a beautiful cat, I saw a possum. Strange.

I do like more of the Argento films than I was thinking of earlier.
And those color spectaculars, e.g. Suspiria, are indeed ... spectacular.

I tried a couple of Lucio Fulci's films, and didn't like those. Too much slashing and gore for me, with seemingly no other purpose than being slash- and gore-fests. That's why I say no more giallos for me, other than those early-mid Argentos.
