Didn't someone sing a song about an ill wind?

The city seems pretty boarded up after dark. But it was a Sunday evening, so perhaps that explains it.

Monday evening greetings!  We have returned from a weekend trip to Wheaton, Illinois, where the main event was Hannah's baptism yesterday.

I was thinking about you.  Was it very windy?

Yes, DR Jane, the wind was ferocious.  My heart broke for you when I read that it had caused your own granddaughter visit to be postponed.

Got a picture to share?

DR John G, Rob and Mary Linda don’t want the girls’ pictures on public sites.

Was just listening to Robert Shaw's recording of the Bach Mass in B minor with Atlanta and remembering two glorious concerts at Riverside Church in NYC on successive Sunday afternoons back in the 80s when he conducted the Bach B minor and the Beethoven Missa Solemnis.

Whoa. Talk about a couple of unforgettable weeks.

I still have his older RCA recording of the B minor with his own Chorale. Haven't heard the Atlanta. And I "grew up with" the Toscanini Missa with the Shaw Chorale.

The only time I saw him conduct was when he guest conducted for Szell. I attended a rehearsal of Boito's Prologue to Mefistofeles which I also knew from the Toscanini recording. It was interesting, how challenging that piece was for the Cleveland Orchestra to sightread. Not their style. But of course it all came together.

We were out driving last night and the wind made our car swerve out of our lane.

Wow!

The highway was alongside corn fields, and all kinds of debris was blowing across the road.

Do you know how hard it was blowing?

Thank you.  Aside from the wind the temps should have been nice.  It will be much colder when we finally get there.

That reminds me Keith said we have new photos.  I no longer get notifications on my phone and can't fix the problem.

Yup, photos from the trip to the fire museum, with the old fire trucks, that we missed out on.  She looked cute in her firefighter's hat.

Wow!

We were dispatched to pick up chips and guacamole from the local Mexican restaurant on Saturday and I was almost knocked over by the wind as we walked to the car.

Ive' been going and doing since arising. Went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to get new sheets - not a single set of California King sheets in the store and none can be ordered - I was told confidentially that this is because BB and B stiffed vendors and can't get any more product. So, I came home and ordered a set via Amazon - probably the smart way to go as they can be returned easily if I don't like 'em.

I was told by the saleslady that the reason the sheets tear (she said they should NEVER ever tear) is because she of the Evil Eye is clearly drying them on "hot." THAT is the problem and I will tell her to dry on medium from now on.

We did Robot Monster in the concert - the audience loved the weird music - Marshall edited fun clips from the movie together. After it was over, I came back to the mic and said: I don't know about you, but I've been humming that for days. That may be the first score written in no key known to man. It would have been the first twelve-tone score but Elmer actually used fourteen tones.
