On This Day in 1956, a little musical called Li'l Abner opened on the Great White Way.

I enjoyed the notes - the comments on SEE HOW THEY RUN which I agree with - although I may have found the movie a bit more fun than MR BK did.

I also liked hearing about YOU LIGHT UP MY LIFE/THE FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL connections.

We're supposed to have some s**w this afternoon - we shall see.

My brother has had my PT Cruiser for three weeks now - his van is getting work done on the transmission.....hopefully it will be fixed sometime this week.  I don't NEED two cars.  But I like to have a choice.  And the Smart Car is not a good drive in snow.

My brother always takes his cars for repair to some man who goes to his church.....it's way the hell out of town down in the boondocks.

His car would be repaired more quickly and more reliably if he took it to an actual Car Repair Place....and I think this guy charges way too much....

It is, presently, 48 degrees in Johnston SC. We are predicted to have showrs -- sometimes heavy -- throughout the day.

The weatherman has found it wise to advise us that if are expecting packages to be delivered we should make every effort to get them inside as the rain may soak through.

Gee!  Who'd a thunk it?!

I found the information about Joe Brooks in today's Notes quite interesting. I remember when "You Light Up My Life" (the song) was quite the hit and ever-present.

It's my favorite song to hate forever.  It played all the time.  ALL THE TIME.  OVER AND OVER!!  Not only would it be playing on just about every radio station while I was driving, but I would hear it played in malls, elevators, etc.

I got so sick of it I swore I'd slap the next person I heard singing it silly if I ever heard it again.

Debby actually didn't have much a a singing career other than "that" song, did she!

Has anyone here ever heard of this?

Lenny Gatto and I served together in several places, including Naples, Italy.  Unfortunately, we had a major falling out when, during the 2016 election, he claimed the Democrats couldn't be patriots because Hillary's stage had only ONE American flag.   The Donald surrounded himself with about 15 or so flags.  Trump does that to this day.  It's his "beard", in my opinion.   By falling out, I mean Lenny and I stopped communicating on Facebook.

Not a loss for me, and likely for him, either....except we still see each other's comments in the posts of mutual friends.

If any of you read the background info on Lenny, don't put too much store into  his alleged assocation with the U.S. Embassy as a liaison officer.   To my knowledge, he was never on their payroll. The consulates are in Milan, Florence and Naples.  He was closest to Milan which was several hundred miles away from Vicenza. If one helps a consulate over the telephone make contact with someone in your city, you may call yourself a "liaison".  Am fairly sure that's the extent of that association in that story.

When he was in northern Italy, he was retired, and also worked at the commissary of the U.S. army garrison in Vicenza (Caserma Ederle).  His wife is Italian and they had friends/family connections in Vicenza.

I've pretty much accomplished all I need to take care of this morning, and I'm pondering the rest of my day. At the moment, I'd like a nap.

I've had an adventure!

I took the garbage to the basement. While I was sorting the trash into various bins, the running dryer stopped. Shortly thereafter, a young man I did not recognize came in and started taking the laundry out of the dryer. I said hello and asked if he was new in the building since I thought I pretty much knew everyone. He said he lived in 2A and moved in in Januiary. He left and I did my stretch exercises. When I went to the elevator I saw it was still on 2, which surprised me since it usually returns to the first floor.

I pressed the button to call the elevator and nothing happened. After a minute I tried again. Nothing. On my third trie, the elevator shut down, and I realized I was stuck in the basement with no cell phone to call for help. So I started yelling for help. After some time of my calling, I heard a voice. It was my first floor neighbor Diana, a wonderful lady. I yelled something like "I'm stuck!" And she said she would call for help. A few minutes later, she called down the shaft that she had called 911 and firemen were on their way. I was leaning on my walker and my right knee was in a great deal of pain.

Lately, I've really been enjoying the Thursday Murder Club mysteries by Richard Osman. There are currently three books in the series. Funny and delightful, with good mysteries and a surprising amount of heart.

I love these books.

As for Ms. Boone’s singing career, it included her recording with BK.

Soon, I could hear sounds of action coming from the shaft, which meant the firemen had arrived. As I watched the panel on the call button, I could see it light up "2 . . . F . . . 2 . . . FM . . . 2 . . . FM . . . .2 before it went dark. Not long after that I heard the door to the street in the laundry room opening and a young, blond, nicely assembled firemen - truly one of the handsomest men I've ever seen - came around the corner to me. He said "You're here! We thought you were trapped inside the elevator and there was no one there." So, he called someone on his walkie-talkie and explained my whereabout. Then a couple more firemen showed up from the laundry room door.

They explained that the young man on 2 must have dropped his chap stick. It had blocked the door. A minute later, the fireman on two started the elevator and the blond fireman, my walker, and I rode to one, where Diana and MaryAnne who lives on the fifth floor were waiting. I picked up the mail, visited a few minutes, and then came home. The entire adventure lasted around fifty minutes.

First, because I know you all have been waiting breathlessly for the update:

The E&T Amazon packages were delivered - this morning - by a neighbor!

The driver went up the wrong long driveway (that is clearly marked with their address), and also just happened to neglect taking the now-standard photo of the packages where he or she or they or it put them. So at least our angry reports weren't in error, and we have the goods. And now we have an additional wrong delivery location to check when something’s missing.

Good news that they didn't lie and you have your packages.  Did you let Amazon know?
