This Christmastide (Jessye's Carol), composed by Donald Fraser for Jesste Norman, may be my favorite contemporary Christmas carol. I just discovered this performance by Leigh Ann Hinton with the United States Army Band, clearly augmented with strings, and I think it's tremendous.
