  • A person should celebrate what passes by.

I think DR elmore3003 meets the criteria:

That's great! ;D

  • Dance, if it makes you happy.

If so, I also make an exception for him.

I would agree he belongs here.

  • You there, why are you so late?

Good Morning - chilly but with clear skies here in the Bay Area this morning - we'll take it!    Nothing else to report - except the Wordle for today. I got it pretty quickly and I don't really know how it happened!

Thanks DR Jrand, the vibes must have worked as I did not wake up with a headache.  It also wasn't raining this morning which may be the real reason ;D

Another novelty song:

“Monster Mash”

I loved that, and danced the Mash at my cousin's party with Jeff Bridges.  I was 13 so he would have been 12.

Thursday morning greetings!  Richard may be able to come home, but not until later in the day.  That’s because the surgeon has a clinic commitment on Thursday mornings and won’t be in the hospital until afternoon.  She warned us of that yesterday, so I’m having a slow morning (which I needed).

Thanks for the update.  It was nice you were warned about the later release time so you could relax.

Novelty songs almost always annoy me. I've heard that they also annoyed Rosemary Clooney when Skitch Henderson made her record them. But at least she got some money out of it.

Clooney did not want to sing Come-On a My House and was told if she didn’t, she’d be in violation of her contract. The threat was that Columbia would not only drop her, they’d sue. She sang the blandest she could make it. It was a huge hit, one of Bob Dylan’s favorites in his Philosophy of Modern Song.

Interesting story.  I guess "bland" was good :)

Ben Bagley liked novelty songs.

I remember Pretty Little Missus Bell, Pills and I Wrote a Play from the Porter volumes. And Rabelais on Harold Arlen Revisited.

She told me she made her peace with the song after it was a huge hit and made her some money.

Is there a distinction between "novelty songs" and "party songs"? What about "special material"?

DR Ginny, how long a drive is it to the hospital?

It’s just over 3 miles, but I either have to go through the busy commercial area by the interstate or take a country route that a little out of the way.  If Central Avenue were cut through, it would be a straight shot.  As it is it’s about a 15 minute drive.

So almost easier on foot.
