  • Have a REALLY nice day!

Novelty songs almost always annoy me. I've heard that they also annoyed Rosemary Clooney when Skitch Henderson made her record them. But at least she got some money out of it.

Clooney did not want to sing Come-On a My House and was told if she didn’t, she’d be in violation of her contract. The threat was that Columbia would not only drop her, they’d sue. She sang the blandest she could make it. It was a huge hit, one of Bob Dylan’s favorites in his Philosophy of Modern Song.

Interesting story.  I guess "bland" was good :)

She told me she made her peace with the song after it was a huge hit and made her some money.

I am glad she did since it was such a big hit.

DR Ginny, how long a drive is it to the hospital?

It’s just over 3 miles, but I either have to go through the busy commercial area by the interstate or take a country route that a little out of the way.  If Central Avenue were cut through, it would be a straight shot.  As it is it’s about a 15 minute drive.

So almost easier on foot.

Except the street doesn't sound like a pleasant one to walk.

Got the oil changed. The owner of the place surprised me. He told his assistant, after I drove up, my name and how to spell it. I use them maybe twice a year in the pandemic. That makes you feel like you’re in good hands.

That is impressive.

I don't normally mention my bizarre dreams.  Part of the dream I woke up to this morning ended with our plans for dinner with friends tonight not happening.  A few hours later the couple we had plans with cancelled due to one of them being sick.

While I hope it isn't anything serious I am relieved it didn't happen in the same crazy way it happened in my dream ;D

So, what is The Boy From …? Comedy or novelty? Good question.

So, anyone want to update it and set it, say, in a Portland, Ore., condominium?

I'm holding out for Fresno. If you want funny, Fresno is your ticket.

Or Pacoima.  Pacoima's a funny word, so that would make it funny, too. ;)

Accordions are funny, too.

As a amateur accordion player - I've always failed to understand what the big deal is about accordions!

I actually took accordion lessons when I was a kid.  Make of that what you will. ::)

Except for the woods, the creeks, and I-75…

Details. 😊
