During the discussions on Laverne and Shirley, I found myself thinking about Eddie Mekka.

I had last seen him as The Arbiter in an excellent production of the musical Chess.

I went on YouTube, and found several videos of that production., performed in 1990 at the Long Beach Civic Light Opera.

Jodie Benson was a fantastic Florence.

But the voice that I could never forget was that of the very handsome and charismatic actor who had the role of Anatoly, The Russian.

He was the absolute best, and I had seen and listened to dozens of productions of Chess.

So..
I went on YouTube and listened to that extraordinary voice again tonight.

It was Robert Yacko.

If there are any Chess lovers here, check out all of the videos of that production on YouTube.

You’re welcome.

Well, I have literally just gotten home after seeing I Am Not Your Perfect American Mexican Daughter.  It was a wonderful show.

Post corrected. ::)

The lead actress never leaves the stage, and has I think at least three quarters of the lines all by herself!  Others do interact with her in most of the scenes, but she has so many lines!  Like for a one-person show, I can't imagine having to learn THAT many lines!

After the show, David and I went to meet one of his friends and several of his friends at their high-rise apartment building in downtown Seattle.  We went out on the 40th-floor terrace and looked around at the night view.

It's a little blurry, but here's looking across at the Space Needle from 40 floors up:

Seattle is such a beautiful city.

I miss it. Traveled there frequently in the 90’s.

I worked for an airline, so I flew for free if seats were available.

I loved Seattle so much, that I visited whenever I had time off.

I almost moved there.

And Seattle has such a vibrant theater community.

I've lived in the Lacey/Olympia/Tumwater area since we moved here when I was 10, so it's pretty much all I really know.

We saw “Princesses” at the 5th Ave. Theater in Seattle, because our friend, Lindsay Mendez was in it.
It was great.

Brent Barrett and Sierra Boggess were also in the cast.

It’s a wonderful theater.
