I believe I, too, am delinquent on the bike TOD.
Sometime around age 7 or 8 or thereabouts, in Columbus, I had a Huffy. I think I had training wheels for it, but it just wasn't the right time, and I gave the whole thing up. Then a couple of years later, suddenly the time WAS right, and I got another bike and learned quickly without the training wheels. Loved it from that moment on.
A bunch of years are a blank as far as a bike is concerned, so fast forward all the way to getting out of college and moving to Hollywood, USA. There, I got a burgundy colored Schwinn Continental 10-speed that I really loved, which was stolen one evening in front of Pickwick Books! I believe I had actually failed to chain it to something, which is pretty unthinkable. Later I got another Schwinn, a gray 10-speed whose model name escapes me, but it was up a bit in quality from the Continental. I had that bike for about a decade, and finally gave it to a neighbor when I was moving.
Haven't had one since. It's no priority, but I'd enjoy tooling around on one again right now, even though I wouldn't have the slightest idea what to get because the whole technology and design of bikes has changed a lot from when I knew them.
