Jane, we frequently went to Oahu when I had free flight benefits.

Stayed at the Kahala Hotel, which has a lagoon with a family of dolphins.

We stayed in the rooms that face the lagoon, and dolphins greeted us every morning during our breakfast on the patio.

It was wonderful, but I didn’t feel 100% happy because they weren’t free.

We did swim with them, which was a wonderful experience, especially when my daughter was very young. She still talks about it to this day.

John, interesting about Jimmy Carter!

I’m an avid birder, and would have had no problem delighting in both species!

Lots of boating expeditions in Newport Beach and Dana Point focused on whales and dolphins.

Humpback whales are also super friendly.

They come right up to you on the boat and allow lots of touching and communication.

He left out wheelbarrows full of lemons and grapefruits outside of his house for everyone to share.

That particular neighborhood had lemon, orange and grapefruit orchards.

I would like to have stayed there and done that when our children were young. Today it would be hard to swim with the dolphins if they weren't free.

While the experience with the Spinning Dolphins was incredible, it was also very difficult more me. While the boat spun in circles to keep a wake going for them to play in, I had tears of joy watching them AND a barf bag in my face.

Yes, we lived right on the harbor in Corona del Mar for many years.

Pelicans came flying over our heads on the balcony. I loved it there.
