Friday evening greetings!  I attended a noon book discussion (The Tobacco Wives) at the library where my career began, then went to lunch at The Cracked Pot with Lynne and Sharon.

Do you recommend the book?

But where I'd really like to visit is Butchart Gardens.

I would like to return there.  A few hours wasn't nearly enough time.

There is a delightful butterfly/insect museum next door.

RIP - Stella Stevens, 84.

Aw, man. Loved her. She was so good in The Nutty Professor and Advance To the Rear.

Yes.  It’s not great literature, but a good story.

We went to that, and yes it was delightful.

I don't remember Advance to the Rear.  I also loved her in The Nutty Professor.

Thanks.  I will see if my library has it.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a Filet O’ Fish. If I wanted fish, I’d go to Cap’n D’s or Long John Silvers, or Arthur Treachers. All of which seem to have mostly disappeared.

Frisch's Big Boy served the best everything!

My favorite was the Brawny Lad!

The Frisch’s near my old Kentucky home closed this week.

I have been craving a filet o'fish ever since the discussion about them, so I just ordered dinner from McDonalds.

Hope it's great,  Larry!

Well, sadly it wasn't.  The ratio of bun to fish was dreadfully off. When I was in high school, Frisch's Big Boy served the most fantastic fried fish sandwich. McDonald's was a most disappointing sub.

Darn.  That's too bad.

At this time of year (going into Lent), Arby’s has fish sandwiches that we like.  Richard picked them up for our dinner tonight.

When we were first married I recall a loud boom and everything shaking.  It turned out to be a house
that had a gas tank explode :(

When I lived in Alexandria, VA someone had a gas leak and their house exploded. Everything was destroyed -- EVERYthing. It was amazing that none of the other houses were damaged. It was maybe a mile from my house.

Had a nice lunch meeting the the playwright of the play and he's liking the suggestions I had, so that's good. Casa Vega - had my usual beef taco and cheese enchilada - excellent.

I did not know this...      but it's the BERRIES!

Pumpkins are berries? No, sorry. Blackberries and raspberries are berries. We may need a alternate definition here.

Only the one home was damaged that I can recall. I hope there wasn't anyone in the house. Sadly the owner was inside when it exploded.

DR Jeanne did you feel or hear the explosion?  I think the house I heard and felt was a bit closer, but not so close that I ever went past it.

I've been watching THE IPCRESS FILE this week on Amazon Prime. It's quite good, a real quality production. Very 1960s. Of course, they tell you there's no charge and that's true for the first episode, but then you must buy subsequent episodes. A free 1-week trial with Sundance Now is taking care of that.

Jane, I don't recall if I felt it, but I certainly heard it.

All this talk of fried fish made me hungry for some.

So I stopped at a nearby Mexican seafood place.
