If I make a sandwich with lettuce, guacamole, bacon, and tomato, is that a LGBT?

Can the cloverleaf be improved?

They are considering putting in a "diverging diamond" interchange in Norwalk, very close to DR ChasSmith.

This type of highway interchange became popular in France during the 1970s and has started to become popular in the American midwest. Each direction of traffice briefy crosses over to the opposite side of the road between the on- and off- ramps, eliminating the need for drivers to cross oncoming traffic, theoretically resulting in less bottlenecking.

The first one in Washington state is in this area, just a few miles north of me in Lacey.  I'd read that they are a lot safer than regular intersections.

It took me a while, but I've mostly gotten used to plain old traffic circles (roundabouts), except when they're really big and busy ones. But a few small ones have taken root around here and they work beautifully.

I first heard about those weird ones in the Midwest not that long ago, and they do look absolutely crazy. I don't think I've encountered one yet myself, but I look forward to it.

Edit:  The above diagram is actually one of the clearer ones I've seen. It makes sense.

I just reserved a spot in the (free) "Conducting Musical Theatre in the Pit, Studio and Concert Hall" Zoom thingy on Wednesday at noon. "Veteran musical theatre conductor/arrangers Larry Blank, Rob Berman, Kristen Blodgette, Robert Billig, and Dan Redfeld share experiences."

The CD that I need to pick up from the library is Billy Joel's "Live at Yankee Stadium, June 22 & 23, 1990."  It's actually two CDs and a Blu-ray video of the concert.  Here's the description:

Summary: The newly edited version includes a never-before-released performance of "Uptown Girl" along with interviews from Billy and behind-the-scenes footage from the event's production. The set list consists of re-edited versions of songs from the original film including "Piano Man," "We Didn't Start The Fire," "New York State Of Mind," "Shout" and more - all live from the ionic stadium in The Bronx. Features 11 completely unreleased performances, including "Uptown Girl," "Only The Good Die Young," "Allentown" and more.

It sounds great.  I am a big Billy Joel fan.

The oak pollen is so bad that I have lost my voice. No one else seems to think that's a problem.

I would think it is a problem.  Sending voice returning vibes.

I'm up again - another ninety minutes of sleep. Things seem to have calmed down just a bit for the tummy.

I have tried to navigate one of those Diamonds and it is CRAZY.  I'm glad I didn't come upon it in the dark.

But I still didn't know if I was in the correct line on driving on the wrong side of the road.

It is at Interstate-70 and ST 39 in Hendricks County.

From my second row seat, I didn't have to shout my question to my now-close (see how close?) personal friends.

Andy Hammerstein is an old friend from my Drama Book Shop days. I once considered Ted Chapin a friend.

Hope the trip back and forth and the procedure weren't too traumatizing.

I am home, and there will be a full report tomorrow. The surgery was harder than the first; the doctor said my cataract was a mess. The surgery was on time, and I was ready to come home by 4:00, Two hours later, the intense burning pain in my right eye is going away, and I was given another pain pill for later. Thank you, all, for the good wishes.

When I discovered the Phase 4 recording of Herrmann's Hitchcock thrillers in 1971 or 1972, I played that thing to death, and - I might still have this - I tried my own hand at transcribing for piano both the Psycho and North by Northwest main title themes. They would both probably be nothing but an embarrassment now, but I'll see if I can find them.
