The tales of 71 people who were in a bank when a shooting occurred.

Interesting concept. Intriguing.

I was in Vatican Square once and asked the stranger next to me:

"Isn't that the Pope on the right?"

The man replied:

"I don't know, but the man with him is Jose Simbulon."

All the stress from the banking nightmare prompted me to indulge in some foods I must be very careful with and now I am feeling quite miserable and having a very, very bad day. Ugh!

Jane, the efraud department woman did apologize -- repeatedly -- but she threw it away with her blase, uncaring attitude and remarks like "Well, these things happen" and "No system's perfect." She refused to acknowledge that their security protocols are flawed and that something needs to be done so that this doesn't happen again, whether to me or someone else. She acted like it was a minor issue and that nothing could be done. That's when I gave her (brief) lecture #23 on software can be fixed. Her "Glad everything's OK now" simply didn't work for me.

Rodzinski, thanks for the recommendation to Charles Schwab. I was familiar with them as a brokerage, but didn't realize I could do banking with them. I've noticed that the financial institutions that handle large deposits tend to be much nicer to their customers that those who handle smaller ones.

Yesterday while running errands, I stopped at the little salad bar/soup bar/juice bar/sandwich bar, but found that they've closed permanently! NO! The owner was there and told me that Snapchat has taken over much of the nearby business park and has their own cafeteria offering free food. All the surrounding eateries are hurting. Everyone thought that once Covid was over people would return to the office and to the nearby eateries, but it hasn't happened. The parking lot was what you'd expect on a Sunday. Many of the offices are vacant, and those that are occupied only see workers a few days a week. It's really sad. It was such a nice little area and a great salad bar.

At least she apologized.  It is a shame her attitude needed improving.

Starting Empire of Light, which I recall BK disliked. I can’t say I like the scene where Olivia Colman has to give her boss (Colin Firth) a hand job.

I did get another 100 pages into my Zola novel, The Debacle. I’ve read my share of anti-war war novels, but this may be the graphic and horrifying. So much so, I had to take a break.
