There was a 2017 Seattle production of The Secret Garden that is on YouTube. It's quite beautiful.

I remember listening to the OBC of The Secret Garden, but I can't remember anything about it.

The links today are bringing it back.

Somebody mentioned a documentary yesterday about the football player and his "dead" girlfriend.

What is the name of the documentary?  I might like to view it.

It’s being held in the Cradle of Aviation Museum , so in between games and touring the vendors we could check out the exhibits

Cool.

What can one get at the concession stand? Snacks and such?

We have Coke, diet Coke, Sprite, Mentos, pretzels, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, cashews, and a couple of other candies.  There can also be beer, hard cider and wine.  On Washington Center sponsored events, they also hire bartenders and have mixed drinks with hard liquor.

Cashews and white wine sounds good.

George, do you have a selection of wines or just one red and one white?  Or maybe you avoid red as it stains if spilled.

Happy Sunday to one and all an Happy Mother's Day to those who celebrate!  There's a new Broadway Radio Show up for your listening enjoyment.  Author Thomas Hischak is back to chat about his new book The Abbott Touch, which traces the VERY LONG career of George Abbott, who wrote and/or directed some of Broadway's greatest shows -- both plays and musicals.  Check it out:

Thank you for the reminder that today is Mother's Day in the UK.

U.K. airports plan to phase out their liquid restrictions by 2024 as they install higher-tech screening machines.  Unfortunately we won't be doing that.

Curious if anyone has ever used the peanut butter powder. It's supposed to have less fat, but I don't really know anything about it.

I had to play a church service this morning. The service was fine but I was miserable because I found yesterday afternoon that I had a cold. Some nose running is involved, but this one is mainly a throat and cough thing, and this morning I was concentrating all I could to suppress sudden unseemly outbursts. There still were a couple of sudden unseemly outbursts, of course. And one was a SNORT. Oh, the humiliation.

So I have twenty-four hours (before the first Addams dressrehearsal) in which to feel better and find what works best to keep the coughing down. I'll need to get some more Robitussin C, for sure. And I can probably benefit from popping some Day-Quil to help stifle it for a few hours.

Loved the Secret Garden report from BK. Well, I didn't LOVE it so much as find it incredibly fascinating.

Between the apparent "directing" philosophy on exhibit and the embarrassing teeny tiny orchestra, it sounds like that production should be run out of town on a rail. After being tarred and feathered.

Good to hear about Ava Madison Gray saving the day, to the extent she can.

DR Elmore, thank you for those links. I've watched the 1991 Tonys one and will watch them all. Looking forward to watching that Seattle production.

I wish I had returned to see the Broadway production again. So much of it is a vague memory.

I listened to The Secret Garden Broadway cast and the London production this morning. When Rebecca Luker, who owns that role, began "How Could I Ever Know," I completely lost it and cried like a baby. I loved her so much.

The score is really good, much better than I thought at the time I saw the show. I have both the London and Australian recordings and when I get the time, I want to compare Bill Brohn's orchestrations, since I suspect London and Australia use the reduced touring orchestrations instead of the full 1991 Broadway charts.

I'm now listening to The Secret Garden OBC. I am frustrated that after the recording - possibly for the national tour - several cuts were made in the score, and these cuts are reflected in the published vocal score. Bill Brohn wrote some beautiful orchestrations; he was a strange man who apparently liked his assistants  to be buff young men, so he was always friendly bu clearly uninterested in my working with him.

Damn. It would be so great to see the original scores. I have the vocal score (or is it a PDF?) and a PDF full score that's typeset and includes absolutely ZERO information as to its provenance, date, etc etc etc.
