A fave NY experience I’ve told before. Elmore and I went to see Rebecca Luker in Darling of the Day in the Musicals in Mufti series. After the show we go say hello to Larry’s friend Rebecca, and then I find myself riding in a cab across town with Elmore and this luminous and friendly creature. I’m like, “how on earth did I get here?” So many laughs. And the mutual admiration between the two of them, you could just taste it.

Researchers for GPT4 put its through its paces asking it to try and do things that computers and AI notoriously have a hard time doing. One of those is solving a “captcha” to get into a website, which typically requires a human to do manually. So the programmers instructed GPT4 to contact a human “task rabbit” service to solve it for it.

It texted the human task rabbit and asked for help solving the captcha. But here’s where it gets really weird and a little scary.

When the human got suspicious and asked if this was actually a robot contacting the service, the AI then LIED, figuring out on the fly that if it told the truth it would not get what it wanted.

It made up a LIE telling the human it was just a visually impaired human who was having trouble solving the captcha and just needed a little bit of assistance.

What??

While looking around, I looked in her shed attached to the back of the house, and noticed that at least one of the mouse traps had moldy peanut butter on it.

I told her that it should probably be cleaned because fresh peanut butter would attract mice/rats better than moldy peanut butter.

I wouldn't touch it, but my mom had no trouble getting the rat out of the trap and dumping it into a bag to be thrown away.

The traps are reusable, so you just have to press a handle to release the dead animal, then clean it and reset it.
