DR Jeanne said:
Quote
Chas, I wouldn't look forward to a deep scaling, either. But there's a way to avoid this sort of thing in the future. May I present...Closys mouthwash! I used to collect a lot of tartar, even with the requisite trips to the dentist, and was developing deep pockets. (Not the good kind, either.) Two weeks after trying Closys I had another exam and everything had cleared up! I was amazed! Others I know who've tried it had similar experiences and thank me for telling them about it. Available at some drug stores and also at Amazon. There's a toothpaste, too, but I only use the Closys mouthwash.

Believe it or not, I found I didn't mind the procedure, in spite of it sounding ghastly. Being totally numbed, I could tell she was scraping down deep like a sumbitch, but I never felt a thing. Even more surprising, not after any of the four sessions did I feel any soreness or sensitivity whatever after the numbness had worn off. It was kind of a breeze, as absurd as that sounds.

Twelve years ago was when I had it before, and she was doing it in quadrants, one section of the mouth at a time, each a week apart. Now they're doing it in just two sessions, one complete side and then the other. So, other than the pain it will do to my wallet, I don't view it with any particular dread.

I wish I knew what my first movie was. My very best guess is that a rerelease of SNOW WHITE was one of the first, and perhaps the first. There's just something about that teeny tiny memory that tells me it might have been my first time in a movie theeder. It would have been in downtown Columbus, and if the damned Columbus Dispatch ever joins newspapers.com or I can get to their listings some other way, I'll figure it out.

Well Miss Lynch has been replaced....we have a new Miss Lynch....but the total remains 46.

I really doubt that my cousin will have any "character" discussions with her cast.  Every show for her is a dance recital and that's really all she cares about.

My guess is at least 20 of the participants come from her dance studio....and will give us the best 1950's hip hop we have seen in the county.

But which T-Bird do you think has the worst relationship with his parents? And do you think Danny has a learning disability that would today require an individualized educational program?

So since Forum contains scenes with Hysterium dressed as a woman, will it now be illegal to perform the show in some states?

So many shows would be affected, from Rocky Horror to Kinky Boots to South Pacific to Sugar.

Any Shakespearean groups that perform "traditionally" with all.make casts

Does the law also cover wonen dressed as men?

TOD:

Around the time that The Normal Heart was playing in NYC, there was another AIDS related play titled AS IS that was playing.

We did the Indianapolis premiere of AS IS at the Phoenix Theatre.....I played three or four different roles.  It was a good play.

I think my favorite film about the subject is PARTING GLANCES.  Its wonderfully moving ending was usurped recently by a new play on Broadway - whose title escapes me for a moment.

I guess I first heard about what was happening in the summer of 1983 - but little was known.  It was very scary that a "plague" could happen in such modern times.....and folks certainly betrayed their strongest feelings during those times - in the next few years.

TOD:

Two works that have been said to deal with AIDS indirectly are The Ghosts of Versailles and Into the Woods.

Two that deal with it directly are Jeffrey and Falsettos.

My first movie memory is at an LA drive-in theater watching Snow White, and cowering behind the back seat whenever the wicked witch appeared.

My friend John Bolger was one of the leads in Parting Glances. It's a good film.

I have not seen The Normal Heart film adaptation but I thought the original stage production at the Public Theatre was a powerful kick in the gut. I used to see Larry Kramer at The Drama Book Shop. I was very fond of him.

I also saw the original stage productions of Angels in America, Jeffrey and As Is; I liked them both. I detest Falsettos, which I call "AIDS for Dummies." I find it very condescending and aimed for the minds of tight-assed people who think they're liberal.

Movies? Parting Glances and Longtime Companion, which had several friends in the cast. I have never seen Philadelphia.
