Oh, I forgot LONGTIME COMPANION.

I was also the AD for the Indy and maybe Midwest premiere of JEFFREY.  It was rehearsing when Greg Louganis' autobiography was out.  He was in Indy for a signing, so I sent my copy with a friend for signing.

The line was too long and his handlers went along getting addresses of the folks who were too far back.  A few weeks later, I got a nice bookplate with his signature, which I of course put into the book.

As DR ELMORE wrote......

Most of the friends I lost were in the theatre community.  And when someone got sick....it was the first thing on your mind.  Or you would see someone you hadn't seen for a few months....and they had "the look"....and you knew.

It's fine if someone wants to write about it - but I think you had to be there.  You had to experience the feelings and the way people would look at you or treat you differently....the feelings when someone "got it."  Because a diagnosis then was a death sentence.  When we were doing AS IS we all talked to a doctor and he said usually the time between diagnosis and death was about 13 months.

We also talked to some patients....it was heart breaking.

To write about it with truth you had to be there - if you write about it as history, you're already one step removed.

Jeanne, I'm not sure Melody Santangelo went to NY. Vi did and became Laura Kenyon - she was in Nine.

Good news to share: At the New York International Film Awards - Sami has won Best Web Series, Best Actress of the entire awards was Sami Staitman for Sami, and Best Song was Here in Sweden from episode one (the only episode we could send), although it has Sami's name on the thing they sent us so we're asking them to fix that.

In the other awards thing, the ONIROS film festival we got the Grand Jury Prize for Best Web Series.

There's a beside scene at the end of Longtime Companion where I've never been able to hear the whispered dialogue. I found that in the theater and on the home releases as well. Perhaps I should turn on closed-captioning.

You certainly have given your publicist a lot to work with.

Was the publicist helpful in devising a submission strategy for all the festivals? That must be daunting.

For some strange reason, they not only had to hire the two keyboardists and the guitarist this year, but a drummer and substitute drummer as well. And none of those other people could join until tech week. That's normal anywhere, of course, but not in a school with a student orchestra. So the kids have had no rhythm section except for me sitting in playing the keyboard 1 book. That's certainly helped them, since the piano plays just about all the time. But it will be a whole different world having everyone there.
