I’ve now read Preview Harvey three times and I’ve enjoyed it for different reasons each time. The last, formatted and visually like it will be in print, made me remember the real thrill of being in a movie theater full of people who’d gathered to watch a movie.

In this covid era, I realize I’ve been twice to the movies, West Side Story and She Said. Both times, I was alone in the theater. Not like it used to be.

Thanks for the Preview Harvey preview, John!  Can't wait to read it, myself!

What DR John G. said about the book.

It's a wonderful evocation of the golden age of moviegoing for people in our general age bracket. Our parents and grandparents would call much earlier times their golden age. But this was it, baby. Hollywood was at its peak turning out its finest, as a rule, and as our hero discovers, even the less than finest product was worthwhile in some way.

Thanks, too, ChasSmith!

Eureka! The bathroom is mopped, and as soon as the floor dries, mI can put it back together. I also mopped the kitchen floor, and I am very glad this nightmare is behind me. Onto the next nightmare!

That's great, Larry!

It’s raining like crazy, so, of course, this beauty would open today. The aroma is amazing.

That's really nice, John!

So since Forum contains scenes with Hysterium dressed as a woman, will it now be illegal to perform the show in some states?

So many shows would be affected, from Rocky Horror to Kinky Boots to South Pacific to Sugar.

Or the new Some Like It Hot, also!

Good news (in the long term) for you allergy sufferers.

I just read that scientists from UCLA have successfully tested an mRNA medicine to reduce and/or stop peanut allergies in mice, and that the treatment shows promise for treating allergies to other foods and drugs, as well as autoimmune conditions. Clinical trials are expected within three years.

The miracle of modern technology!

Well Miss Lynch has been replaced....we have a new Miss Lynch....but the total remains 46.

I really doubt that my cousin will have any "character" discussions with her cast.  Every show for her is a dance recital and that's really all she cares about.

My guess is at least 20 of the participants come from her dance studio....and will give us the best 1950's hip hop we have seen in the county.

But which T-Bird do you think has the worst relationship with his parents? And do you think Danny has a learning disability that would today require an individualized educational program?

I am pretty sure that my first movie was a reissue of Abbot & Costello Meet Frankenstein.

I must have been three or four years old.

My parents, my brother, and I walked (or were carried) to the Ritz Theatre in Mooresville to see the fun.  I do remember that my brother Mike and I laughed all through the film.....and we laughed all the way home.

I was oblivious when rumors of the plague began. I completely missed the 1981 New York Times article that announced there was a new disease in the gay community. But, suddenly rumors and whispers among the members of the New York City Gay Men's Chorus about members who stopped coming to rehearsal turned into a litany of men in hospital or hospice. My friend Bill Tynes, who produced the New Amsterdam Theatre Company, was hospitalized; the boyfriend of my friend Michael, who hung my window blinds, died, and Michael told, "It's gonna get me." And it did. My friend Stuart White, who directed the Circle Rep Theatre Lab, died, followed by his companion Clifford Stone, who wrote the wonderful The Great Sunflower. Then, around 1983, it exploded. Chorus members began droppingin larger numbers, friends vanished, and you later heard they had either moved home to die or had left NYC in hopes of escaping it. I was at a rehearsal talking to Elaine Stritch one day and she whispered that she had been to some hospital to see Larry Kert. Every time there was an obituary for an actor, composer, writer, dancer that mentioned the cause of death as brain tumor, cancer, whatever, the first question was AIDS, right?

Every week, I swear, the Men's Chorus sang at a memorial for a dead member, chorus supporter, friend, or a stranger who asked them to sing for a loved one's memorial. I visited Joe Cantlin in a hospital room where he lay dying with piles of dirty sheets littering the room becaujse the workers were afraid tp touch anything. Another friend who was there and I stripped him naked, changed his dirty sheets, bathed him, and dressed him in new bedclothes. He died three days later. It was a helluva time to live through.

A scary time. DR elmore3003's memories have brought it all back.

I know.  I only know one person who died of AIDS, and he died just last year.  We knew each other for more than 30 years, and he was HIV positive when we met.  He lived through a lot.

My Darling Daughter's first movie was a reissue of Lady and The Tramp at a drive-in in She was one and three quarter years old. December 1971.

Cool.

We should do this with every show. Especially the ones with character types. I really want Reno Sweeney’s backstory. When she says she’s benn through the brimstone and she’s been through the fire, what happened? Was she a devil worshipper or merely a fallen girl who had to sell her hair and then her body? Inquiring minds want to know.

Good news to share: At the New York International Film Awards - Sami has won Best Web Series, Best Actress of the entire awards was Sami Staitman for Sami, and Best Song was Here in Sweden from episode one (the only episode we could send), although it has Sami's name on the thing they sent us so we're asking them to fix that.

In the other awards thing, the ONIROS film festival we got the Grand Jury Prize for Best Web Series.

That's fantastic, BK!!  Congrats to you and everyone involved!! ;D

Jeanne, I'm not sure Melody Santangelo went to NY. Vi did and became Laura Kenyon - she was in Nine.

And Ben Bagley records.

London-based Kim Criswell arrived around 4:00 and departed 2 hours later. We laughed, cried a little over a dying friend, and dished like mad. While she was here Donna McKechnie called and they set up a meet tomorrow. Donna asked about my cats, and Annabelle, who wants to play Grizabella some day, was in awe of Miss Ki9m, who played Grizabella in the tour of CATS.

That's OK, DR ChasSmith. You've got enough rhythm for all of us.

I know this is probably sacrilege - but the previews of that Adam Sandler/Jennifer Aniston comedy sort of make me want to see it.

They both are so personable....not that I like them in everything.

But the Aniston movie about the dog....well......there you are!
