Today's words of wisdom:

"You don't need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive more than once."

I'll be going now.

I seem to be grieving my losses longer than most.

I look forward to a day when I sob less than 5 hours/day.

It surprises me when people tell me that I should be over it by now.

To "heck" with those people.  It will take as long as it takes.  There is no statute of limitations on grief.

I can't even imagine anyone actually saying such a thing.

No two people are alike, and no two circumstances are alike. Take it at your own pace, DR Iris.

I lost my mom and my uncle within 3 weeks of each other in March/April.
Still in shock.

I never want to bring down the mood here on HHW.
So, I try to post when I’m feeling better.
But I’m not feeling better.

Iris:  I have a cousin named Debra.  She is very dear to me.  In the space of 13 months, she lost her mother, her father and her husband.

Even though she has two older brothers, she was the executor of all the estates and put aside her grief to resolve all the issues around those estates and insured fair equity in distribution of inheritance.

She is very strong, but I worry about her.  I fear there will be a breakdown, of sorts, in her near future.   She does not go out and about unless with her children.  She says she isn't ready for people to tell her how sorry they are because all the feelings come back.

Her mom and dad were my aunt and uncle who lived across the street.  After my mom died in 2018, I fulfilled my promise to her that I would help my aunt and uncle.  I took my aunt to all her appointments, to the grocery story, etc.  My uncle needed little care, but I later learned that my aunt, who ought to have had daily aid herself, was breaking her back caring for him.

All of this weighs on me, but it's so much worse for Debra.

You take all the time you need.  No one has a formula about how much time it will take and how much grief anyone will feel.

Thanks to all for the nice comments on the story.

Lt. Cable is now married with two children....and he spends a lot of time in the gym.

A couple of years after South Pacific - he played the younger son in my production of Arthur Miller's ALL MY SONS.....he was very good in that, too.

Exciting news in the NOTES.

Vibes for a SAMI nomination or three and a few wins as well.

Oh my god.

I'm going through the stack of clothes I'd laid out MONTHS ago to donate -- and I am shocked, shocked, to find that they were obviously all bought by mistake, for some damn kid half my size.

What's really weird is that there are a couple of things I didn't even recognize. Oy! Well, I probably wouldn't recognize mine own self in a photo wearing them, either. Have I had two lives, one of them thin? Don't bother, I already know the answer to that:  Yes.

I need to throw these things into a box once and for all, and take them somewhere. Either that, or set fire to them.

DR George: their way is too fraught with pitfalls. They must revert to Plan B: buy fresh French pastries for every rehearsal/performance.

Even better, hire a French pastry chef from France to make them in the wings. Why take chances?

We did Act Two twice and it was most enjoyable.

The director also gave me a direction - so I took it to the nth degree and he fell off his chair laughing.....I think it stays in.

But it's black, which did make me have to think about which black car in the parking lot was my loaner. :-\
There are just too damed many!

;D  I have images of you walking around the parking lot pressing the lock button on your key remote and looking to see which black car flashes its lights.

A little late, but I did enjoy watching Jane Fonda film one of her scenes in “The China Syndrome”.
The bar where she meets Jack Lemmon was very close to my apartment in the marina, so a group of us decided to watch them film the scene at a bar in Venice. She was very friendly to us, as well as very classy.
A wonderful memory.

A nice memory with friends.

So….
I will keep up with everything, and return from time to time as my mood allows.

Thank you all for allowing me to express my sadness.
I’m working on the process of grieving and recovering.
It will take time.

Sending hugs.  It takes a long time.
