Ladies and Gentlemen,

I just did a brave thing. I cleared off my DVR to prepare for the "upgrade" to the current model that I'll have to exchange it for in a couple of days.

I had dreaded this since they announced its coming demise several weeks ago, but it wasn't as difficult as I'd thought, given the mix of things I'd accumulated. It's time to move on, and it will be good to finally have the up-to-date equipment that will work without having to be nursed along every few days. Both of our DVR boxes have been on their last legs for a while, and it took Xfinity pulling the plug on these to make this happen.

The DVR is dead. Long live the DVR.

I am about half through act two in memorizing.

The director of GREASE messaged and said even though I don't have rehearsal tonight, would I mind driving down and being a second set of eyes for her?

Although it is futile....I told her that I would....just to offer my support.  So I shall be on my way in a bit.

Memorial Day greetings!  Richard went to the parade and cemetery ceremonies today then took me to lunch at Izzy’s in the Cincinnati ‘burbs.  In the past we’ve gotten take-out from there and had a picnic while listening to our friend Rick play the carillon.  Alas, we suspect that concert series has been discontinued.

Well, the carillon concerts are scheduled for this years but our friend is not playing them.

I will have a full report later.

I am hoping it is not as bad as I think it may be.

If you think a different cast member would be better in another role, tell her and tell her why.

I have been embattled recently in a FB thread on "Grease" and how awful it was that John Travolta not only STOLE Danny from Jeff Conaway but also stole "Greased Lightning" which belonged to the character Konickie.

My feeling is, yes, it's a shame Conaway wasn't the name at the time that Travolta was but that it proved to be the right decision.  The movie was a sensation with Travolta and Newton-John and it became the most successful movie musical at that time.

I was then challenged by someone else to provide my film making credentials.  He suggested that profits weren't always justified if someone was treated badly in the making of the film.

I told him to look at my FB page as I had looked at his and he would discover I had no more film making credentials than he has, but that I have years on him and probably several hundred moves I've watched more than he has.

I told him I thought Conaway was an adequate actor, may have been terrific on Broadway but didn't really click for me on the silver screen.   I hate toxicity on the internet.

I got through my saved cache every six months or so.  If there are films or shows there I haven't watched, they get deleted.

It's amazing how quickly things add up before you have the chance to get to them.

Well, I blocked the Facebook person this morning. Then I spent the morning working on ballet No.18. I decided I disliked what I had written and threw it all out. I began a new chart after dinner.

Warm thoughts for Mrs. Rodzinski today as she moves her parents into assisted living.

The roughest part of growing older is caring for those who brought us into this world and raised us.  Caring isn't the hard part, because it is the caring that matters most of all.

The hardest part is often borne by the parents or other elderly relatives who must give up their "home" and independence.

I fully expected to spend years with my mom when I retired and moved back to South Carolina.  I never imagined or foresaw that I might be settling her estate at the one-year marker of my return.

It's heartbreaking when you know you are doing what is best for them but entrusting them to someone else's care.

I wish only the best for you, buddy!

Thanks for all that truth, friend.

From DR Rodzinski:

Thank you. Their new place is quite nice, I’m told. I’ll see it tomorrow.

I hope you agree.  I hadn't realized you have never been there.  Did your in-laws go with your wife to tour it?

Yes they did. Now that I’ve seen it, it’s a lovely place. Everyone was very welcoming. It’s in a nice area of White Rock, pretty close to the Peace Arch US border. Staff was lovely. They are in a temporary room until there’s is ready. It’s like almost a regular apartment except they get escorted to eat three times a day.

Is White Rock a nice area?  I hope they are even more pleased once they can move into their permanent living quarters.
