Our Open House article has hit the local media....so hopefully we will have a few folks dropping by on Sunday.

Friday night is "FIRST FRIDAY" in Greencastle and the GREASE cast is going to perform a number on the town square....the purpose is to sell some tickets at the Sunday Open House.....I hope it doesn't cause folks to turn in their season tickets.

The evening's sleep was adequate but less than stellar.  There are two reasons for that:

1.  I used my CPAP last night for the first time in a week or so. Around 3:30 a.m.,  I removed said CPAP because I was congested on one side and was struggling with the bivalve.  When I removed it, my sinuses made themselves known to be very congested and unhappy.  So, a day before my allergist appointment, I get to doctor myself.  Hopefully, things will clear up by the evening.

2.  When I got up to deal with my CPAP removal, etc., I realized my stomach was not only gurgling, but it felt like something inside me was moving around.  By the time I got back into bed, it was 34 minutes later and I was much lighter.  It was a good thing but happened at an odd time.

All right, the bodily functions post is over.

Today is a low-key day for me.

I had intended to sleep in today but, since the fates had other plans for me, I may find myself napping off and on.

I took my $20 bill and my $10 winning scratch off to the gasoline emporium.

I got $25 worth of gasoline - that filled up Dennis the Smart Car.  And I bought another $5 scratch off ticket.

And I won $100.  That will pay for most of gasoline in June.

DR Ron Pulliam, did you ever see or have any involvement with this student film by Jim Whaley?

From DR Ron:

Quote
I had to get on my knees at the cemetery last year before Christmas.  Big mistake.  I waited for several folks to depart before putting on the getting up exhibition.  It would have been quite memorable a sight.

Keith has an embarrassing video of me trying getting up.  I had to yell at a friend to stop trying to help.  People kindly want to pull me up by my bad shoulder.  If my shoulder worked I could push myself up.

Until I hurt my knee I didn't need my arms to get up and down on the floor as my legs did just fine without them.

So, since the cable guy will be rooting around in corners of the house that are usually unseen, and therefore somewhat unseemly, today starts the cleanup of those areas. It's about time, anyway.

Not like every inch of the jernt shouldn't always be presentable, right? Even the hard to reach and usually ignored places?

Oy!

This goes for the basement as well, since they always go down to test all of the connections. In that case, we mainly have to ensure there's a clear and safe path from the stairs to that corner.

Oy!  Again.

Until I hurt my knee I didn't need my arms to get up and down on the floor as my legs did just fine without them.

I discovered in early December of my 40th year (circa 1988) that I was having a bit of trouble getting up. I was packing Christmas presents for shipping home, as I had always done when in service, and the floor was the best place to have everything spread out.

It was my first clue that I was 40 and things would likely go down for me.

I had always had the ability to spring up without effort.

Now at 74, I likely wouldn't be able to get up unless I had something to pull myself up with.  I managed at that cemetery, but I had to get myself into a pretty awkward stance to do it.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JM1TDyBN3jM&pp=ygUaamltIHdoYWxleSBjaW5lbWEgc2hvd2Nhc2U%3D

I was not involved, but I have seen it and was regaled by Jim about it over a phone call.  He was quite excited by it, but later decided filmmaking just wasn't his forte.

Dexter was played by Cliff Carson, only son of NFL defensive coach Bud Carson.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bud_Carson#:~:text=Leon%20H.%20%22%20Bud%20%22%20Carson%20%28April%2028%2C,Football%20League%20%28NFL%29%2C%20mostly%20as%20a%20defensive%20coordinator.

Cliff started acting as a kid, appearing as "Oliver!" on the Atlanta stage opposite Vincent Price playing Fagin.

I met Cliff once when he was a young man, but he had little to say to me.  Years after Jim passed, I communicated with him and we began a telephone correspondence that deteriorated after too many calls with him ranting about people I didn't know who treated him ill.  A bit of alcohol was behind those rants, which could go for a couple of hours.  I finally asked him not to call when he was drinking.  He never called again.

He has a web site where he features his art.   https://cliffcarson.com/
