Back from a great lunch - Trousdale sandwich was wonderful - we both had it and potato salad, and we began with a half-and-half - fries and onion rings, also excellent. For those who may not remember, the Trousdale is on grilled bread with coleslaw, turkey, Swiss, and 1000-Island dressing.

After lunch we saw why George does not like the large screen in his car.

Fortunately, it's a loaner.

Yup.  We hope you get your car back soon.

Thanks!  Me, too!!

Warning to self: Don’t start watching a movie about opening a restaurant when you’re hungry.

That sounds right up my alley.  LOVE grilled sandwiches, anyway.

I had a belated birthday lunch today with Jan, a girl I grew up with. Her birthday is the day after mine, but she’s a year older — 364 days older to be exact. We lunched at a Mexican restaurant not far from her house.  The food was quite good, we ate on the patio, which I enjoyed, and we had lots to catch up on. We hadn’t seen each other since before Covid.

Thanks, Hitchcock!

DR Rodz, it was actually my dad who rigged up the contraption that held the birds until it was time for them to fly, but I doubt that he had anything to do with your window. Must have been a confused and errant bird.

A bird smashed into our window the other night, cracking the outer pane of a double-paned window. The bird itself flew away without damage.

Something similar happened here last fall.  Bird of prey chasing a small bird and they both crashed into our living room picture window.  The little bird didn’t survive, but the hawk flew off.  He left a hole in our outer pane shaped like himself, which made for a very spooky Halloween effect.

First we went to Wagner's European bakery where I got cinnamon swirl bread to take home and a sticky bran muffin to wash my vitamins down.

That sounds wonderful.   Jan is exactly the number of days older than you that Bruce is older than I am.

We get bird strikes fairly frequently. No broken windows yet, and it seems to almost never harm the bird, in spite of how illogical that seems when you hear the impact.
