I woke up to the news of Robert Kennedy - he had just made a speech in Indianapolis a few months earlier....

My brother said "Kennedy has been shot" and I thought he was crazy....it was a terrible feeling of deja vu.

The run thru?

Well I came home with a 4-inch scratch on my left bicep and a gouge in my right palm....and I am not sure when either of them occurred.

While posting that, I did almost decide to just say "most free" and be done with it, but I doubled down, determined to try my best at freeeeessstt.

The negative reviews of Days of Wine and Roses, including Rex Reed’s, are interesting because they echo a few of the comments here when Singdaw posted song samples. Namely, it sounds more like Myths and Hymns ir a song cycle.

Further on the subject of my newfound leisure/movie-watching time:

I don't know whether I said it to BK or posted it here, but on my second (or third or fourth) time through PREVIEW HARVEY, I knew this was something that will happen:  I'm throwing myself a Preview Harvey Film Festival in which I'll watch, in the order of release, all the movies in the book that already mean the most to me, and others which, having "experienced" them in the book, need to be seen and appreciated anew or for the first time.

I was so happy when BK added the list of movies as an appendix. I have my marked up copy of that, indicating those films I have here (a lot) and those I need to find (a surprisingly tiny number). A rough count shows at least 50 movies that I'll be watching, which I believe includes a few of Harvey's not so great ones that I nevertheless want to see. This can finally happen, and could officially start as soon as this evening.

I've done a few such private "festivals", sometimes by design, sometimes not. For me, it can be an inspiring and meaningful way to take in a bunch of films or books or music.

I did a bit of Preview Harvey movie watching when writing the book, but there are some films in there that I will watch because I haven't seen them in so long.

Interesting that you dreamed of critters, DR ChasSmith. I dreamed I was sleeping in a hotel, and the bed was infested with fleas.

I may be in the minority, but I really like many of Guettel’s songs on Myths and Hymns.

I saw the original version of this song cycle under the title Saturn Returns.
Adam Guettel’s music is not for everyone, but I find some of his songs hauntingly beautiful and totally original.

From Rodzinski:

“The legendary speech in Indy after he learned of MLK's assassination.”

Which is why there were no riots in Indianapolis.

Fascinating and frustrating to hear the pleas for gun control on live news after RFK was assassinated.

They were pleading for Congress to pass laws to control gun violence.

And here we are.
