DR JohnG: I did not mean that the key in the wall socket was totally responsible for who I am today, but that it set me on a course that may well have been different otherwise.

I am less trusting than I might have been, for one. And who knows what part of my brain might have been amplified because of it...or suppressed?

Finished Wives and Daughters, which is more than Elizabeth Gaskell did. She died before tying ip all the loose strings. But it was quite good.
