Why would anyone, much less Jimmy, crack corn?

There IS a story behind it.  A rather dark story.

It has another title:  "The Blue Tail Fly", but those words aren't in the lyrics.

In slang, however, the song is an indication of folks just sitting around and sharing gossip.

I guess you could say we all crack corn one way or another.

The thing is, I don’t care.

Apologies.

That was a Jimmy Cracked Corn joke, I hasten to add, lest you think I genuinely didn't care about the lore you presented.

Shucks!  I totally forgot "...and I don't care" as a lyric.

For anyone inclined to watch "Project  Runway", I previewed last night's episode that introduced all the designers coming back.

Among them, Kara Saun, Rami Kashou, Korto Momolu, Kayne Gillaspie, and a bunch more.

I will record the series, and fast-forward to the runways and evictions.

Last night, Nina Garcia and Christian Sirano put on runway show for all the former contestants.

The designs were the ones each of the designers had done on their last appearance in their season or in an all-stars season.

The first challenge is to reinvent that look...or the intent (don't have to use same fabrics or designs).

That is the crux of tonight's 1st challenge episode.

Now I know some of you don't care about "Project Runway", and I cannot say I blame you at all.

Seeing all those failed warriors from previous seasons is kind of a hoot if you've watched those seasons and "remember" the designers.  Some I have no recollection of.  Others are all too familiar.

Viktor Luna is one of them and has already started up some s***.

All of that said, I will not be reporting back on any given episode unless someone else comments.

The one time I consciously thought, nah, I'm not gonna add a smiley-face to indicate "joke"!

Was big into Project Runway maybe through the first 6 seasons (minus the first). I wonder how many of the contestants I would recognize. I quit the show cold turkey after a girl from like Oregon and her homely hippie designs beat a more deserving champ.

Kayne, Rami, and Korto are the people I recognize. I remember Rami as being nice.

Gosh, there have been a ton of seasons since I watched. I guess the diminishing returns thing happens after a show like this runs awhile, like with The Voice. You start to go, this thing isn't producing that many superstar designers! Siriano being a big exception.

I shall be on my way around 5:50 to the mail place - books are here - and then to the theater. We had an actor emergency who'll now miss two of the four rehearsals. This is no longer a workshop, it's a slapped together thing no different than the one-nighter we did a year and a half ago. The original pitch for me to come back and do this was two WEEKS of rehearsals, not two DAYS. I'll be lucky to get it all staged in time to do any run-throughs.

I was assured and promised this Zelle thing was happening today. There's only one business hour left of today. I've sent three emails about it, to no response. I have a phone number but not for the guy who said it would happen, but still, in ten minutes I'll make a call and see if I can get the guy's number or if his partner can do anything about it.

Talked to the gal who works with the guy who's doing the Zelle. Apparently, he just got to his office and it will come shortly. That was ten minutes ago. And I'm out of here in forty minutes.

George, last night I read that the West End production of CABARET will transfer to Broadway next year, starring Eddie Redmayne.

Maybe that’s why the rights were pulled.

I wouldn't think that that would affect us.  Broadway is too far away.  Now, maybe if it toured and that came around at the time, that (to me) would make more sense.

George, Ruthless! The Musical has a cast of six.

And I’m really happy that you’re feeling better! 😊

Thanks for the suggestion, Iris, but Ruthless was just done in Olympia a few years ago, so it's too soon for that one.  And thanks, again!

Now the bad news. This week was the third package with tracking the US Postal Service has lost in the past four months. What the fat hell is going on?

That's terrible! >:(

Amazing actress and human being. I remember when she paused her acting career for 25 years in order to serve in the British Parliament.

According to her obituary in the NY Times, she had recently finished filming her last film with Michael Caine, which will be released at the end of the year.

The following quote, which was shared by the NY Times theater critic, really took me by surprise.
Never would have imagined that Glenda Jackson felt any anxiety when performing onstage.

. “You can go onto that stage every night,” she said, “and it’s always the equivalent of going onto the topmost diving board, and you don’t know if there’s any water in the pool.

“Every time I say, ‘Yes, I’ll do it,’ I think, ‘My God, I don’t know how to do it. I can’t do it.’ We are sadomasochists as well as being brave, actors, and we torment ourselves.”

George, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee has a cast of 9.

A funny and touching musical by William Finn.
I’m a big fan of his work, but realize that some are not.
Has your theater company performed The Mystery Of Edwin Drood?

Both of these shows were already mentioned at the cast party where this conversation got started, so she was already aware of them.  I love Drood but the voting might not easily work in the theater at the college.

I sent the seller a message about the missing package, and ended it by stating that if the package was perchance returned to them, I still wanted it. The seller replied erather nastily that USPS never loses a package with their tracking numbers, implying, I guess, that it couldn't be lost, as if I were pulling a scam. My response to that was not so friendly.

Oh, my goodness!  Did DeJoy himself send the message?? :o

Recently, Fox "News" claimed that the White House had flown a "controversial new transgender flag that promotes grooming and pedophilia."

This is the SAME FLAG that Fox itself used to wrap its logo in its 2022 Social Responsibility report.

I am going to hear a pianist at a jazz club tonight. I am going unwillingly - I simply don't like to go out anymore. But I am going.

Hopefully, at least the performer is good.

Been remembering Glenda Jackson’s amazing body of work. I really loved Elizabeth R back in high school. But my favorites were her two films with Walter Matthau, House Calls and Hopscotch.

I really enjoyed Hopscotch, but I loved House Calls.
