I stayed up rather late last night, logged in briefly, then finally collapsed. Thankfully, THE CAT let me sleep in quite late this morning, and I'm a little more rested. Now beginning to ketchup on my life a bit.

The Blackberry phenomenon is certainly interesting, as it's become quite the cult.

I never paid it any attention, myself. Maybe I should have back then, because the first time I got a cell phone was in early 2002. When that was decided, I went with a Cingular Nokia - which I still have today, in a small box along with a couple of similar artifacts from my past that I find interesting.

Anyhoo, I'd like to see that movie or documentary or whatever it is, and however bad it is, just to learn a little something about the Blackberry and the craze.

Maybe later I'll take some photographic evidence of the two early cell phones I have stored away. They truly are artifacts!

The Preview Harvey Scrapbook is great, and of a very generous length. I had pictured something maybe several pages long, but this is fine indeed. Thank you, BK.

Sidenote that Don Grady who’d had a minor hit single with his band the Yellow Balloon, also put out a quite enjoyable solo LP in 1973 under his real name.

More to BK's poll of yesterday --

I've just generally made it a point to try to get a positive review up of each book soon after its release. I know it helps the visibility and all, because I'd been educated on that from a couple of friends prior to getting to know BK's books.

Usually I have no trouble deciding what in each book to focus on, and I usually take a few days to let the thoughts gel before submitting. But I'm also thinking about that right after reading so that it doesn't take too long to get something up there.

The only time it's ever seemed a bit of a challenge was when I'd done a few Adriana Hofstetters, and then more came out -- and as much as I loved them, I remember struggling a bit to find a unique approach to each one. It always came to me, of course, but I do remember that happening at one point.

For whatever all of that is worth.  :)

I never had a blackberry or understood what they did. I was a bit late even to the cellphone world.

I was definitely late to it in 2002. I remember hearing about the development of such things in the mid-1980s, but that seemed all part of a fantastical world back then and I paid it no mind. By the turn of the millenium, cell phones were a fairly common thing. But still I didn't really think of it as being for me.

What's really crazy is that for me, like perhaps for others, there was a definite turning point at which I knew I would go from being someone without any such device, to one of those people who now has a cell phone, whoop-de-doo. My own li'l "epiphany" was ... wait for it ... 9/11.

I knew then that in any kind of large scale disaster, land line communication would most likely be completely out or clogged for a while, and there was a far better chance of cell towers being still useful, or becoming useful much sooner. But even then, it took me from September 2001 till around April of 2002 to finally decide it was time to get off of my ARSE and go into a cell store and take that plunge.

DR Singdaw I believe that is higher than your unpleasant air quality.

We are just over 200, but not as bad as 222.

According to my close personal friend Mr. Google, ours is between 24 and 32 right now, depending on what individual stations are reporting. Quite a difference from what we had a few weeks ago and what all of you are having now. Hope y'all see improvements soon.

Home again, home again
Jiggety-jig!

I have decided to waylay my wanderlust looking for something new.  i rid myself of recyclables, had a pleasant drive to Cook's and shopped fresh stuff.  Got some Vidalia onions, some maters, a green tomato for fried green tomatoes (!), some okra, some cucumbers, some corn and some squash.

This should all contribute to nutritional regularity.

For plain ole regularity, there's always Metamucil.

Today, I saw a very dirty/dusty SUV. Into the back window grime, someone had inscribed this literary gem:

Cowboy butts drive me nuts.

Garrison Keillor (of A Prairie Home Companion fame) used to own a bookstore in Saint Paul located in the basement of a coffee shop. It was called SubText.

For plain ole regularity, there's always Metamucil.

And then, there is OmegaXL, the current TV ad for which drives me bonkers.  This little retired emergency services worker from "Noo Yawk" rattles on and on and on about it and how it really changed her life.  In it she wears a quilted coat that covers her from neck to just below her knees.

And the ad goes on and on and on....

And just when you think you've heard the last horrible syllable uttered from her mouth, the ad returns to her...again and again.

Got a cantaloupe last night that is so perfectly ripe, it’s making me crazy happy. Soft, delicious and sweet.
