He also accused me of "Eating smashed burgers...And the fries that are french."  Well, I've done those, but not last night.

I was actually forgetting what vixmom's six years were for, while typing that. I just knew she was good for six years.   :)

Then I remembered. Jury duty!

I've only been called twice, I think. First time, I spent the morning and part of the afternoon at the courthouse reading a book, till the judge in the case came in and said the parties had resolved whatever it was and we were all excused.

Also had a wonderful Mexican meal at the mom-and-pop restaurant across the street where all the attorneys and everyone eat.

Second time, I totally blew it and found out one evening that I'd put it in my calendar wrong, and I was supposed to have been there that morning! I called and apologized, and they said "oh, that case was dismissed. You're fine."

I have no idea what years these were, or whether the gavel is about to strike again.

You got lucky on the "dismissed" one.

.

I do love yellow corn.

Around here, however, we mostly find white corn.

Funny story (to me):  When I was a kid, my paternal grandmother would visit us for a month at a time every year.   She had given up housekeeping long before my father was of age (he was the youngest of 8 and had two married brothers by the time he was six).

She moved around amongst her children...a month here, a month there and, more often than not, several months with her youngest daughter (my Aunt Fanny).

At any rate, she was visiting us when I was in my early teens and my mom prepared corn on the cob with the evening meal.  I feel certain we had yellow corn for meals in prior visits she had with us, but on this occasion, she exclaimed:

"Harrumph!  In Virginia, we only eat white corn.  We feed the yellow corn to the hogs!"

My mom looked at me, suppressed a smile, and said nothing.  My dad said "Well, Ma, you don't have to eat it if you don't want it."

She ate it.

Thursday afternoon greetings!  The downsizing continues and today we dealt with some things hanging from the I-beams in the basement.  I discovered a pair of drapes still on hangers and in the bag from the dry cleaner (the late, great Gough-Lamb).  The attached ticket says I dropped them off there on 6/7/88 - the day we moved into this house.

I talked to the neighbors who happened to be outside as I left yesterday afternoon.

He said they are aware of the run off problem and trying to find a solution.  My brother had a length of gutter spout flexible hosing and offered it to me today.....so I put it in my driveway and will offer it to them this afternoon if I see them.

So yesterday I used the stuff on my bald head that I had bought on Amazon that is supposed to cause less sweating.....

It did not.

Instead about 10 minutes into the rehearsal the sweat began pouring and the sweat and the chemicals went right into my eyes.

Most painful....but there was nothing to do because I didn't want to stop the rehearsal.....so I sort of fixed it during intermission....but it was an uncomfortable evening.

I shall not be using the ineffective chemical again.

AH DR GINNY - even better.

I would love to find some nice drapes at Goodwill still in the cleaning bag.  Straight to the Playhouse!

In a very strange coincidence - I watched The Holcroft Covenant earlier this week.

I saw directed by JF and starring MC and got excited about it.

Then it started.....and it is exactly as described by MR BK.

I couldn't finish it....when Lilli Palmer showed up looking like Helmut Berger in THE DAMNED, I was through, brother!

A birthday par-tay in that part of the U.S. of A., should be catered by Skyline, White Castle and Graeter's.

And Busken bakery.  Or Servatii’s.

I also enjoyed ROME as described by DR RON PULLIAM for exactly the same reasons.

And there was another series....it may have been SPARTACUS that was also very good.....not sure if it was STARZ or HBO.  I think the young actor who played the title role passed away and it had to be recast for the second or third season.

One day God was looking down at Earth and saw all of the rascally behavior that was going on.   So he called one of His angels and sent the angel to Earth for a time.

When he returned, he told God, "Yes, it is bad on Earth; 95% are misbehaving and only 5% are not."

God thought for a moment and said, "Maybe I had better send down a second angel to get another opinion."

So God called another angel and sent him to Earth for a time.

When the angel returned he went to God and said, "Yes, it's true.  The Earth is in decline; 95% are misbehaving, but 5% are being good."

God was not pleased.   So He decided to e-mail the 5% that were good, because he wanted to encourage them, and give them a little something to help them keep going.

Do you know what the e-mail  said?
