About two months ago I emailed my PCP, documenting the persistent hounding I receive from Cedars about tests they feel I should have. Not only do they not let up, but they are often incorrect. The nurse who intercepted it — standard procedure — s aid she’d forward it to him immediately. I saw him yesterday and mentioned the email. He’d never received it. As it happened he’d had a staff meeting the previous day and mentioned that many of his messages were missing.

He has another patient with a similar complaint, but in her case it involves statins. Cedars is pressuring her to take statins. She is adamantly opposed and the doctor doesn’t feel she needs them, but Cedars is pressuring her anyway. I find this reprehensible. Cedars gets some sort from brownie points when patients take statins. It has nothing to do with what is best for the patient. Gawd!

My PCP and I are of the same mind on many things and speak freely. We both dislike the management there. I don’t want to change doctors or I’d leave.

DR Jeanne at least your doctor agrees with you. Recommending something is fine but the final decision should be between you and your doctor.
