And Jose, to tie separate postings together, you can ask Tom Mizer and Curtis Moore about the time they both simultaneously danced with Lauren Bacall at Amanda Green's wedding.  I wasn't there, but we heard about it.  Reportedly they made a Lauren Bacall sandwich.  Wonder if there are pictures of that.

I shall ask them about it... And see if there are any pictures too!

Wasn't Psychodrama on the original LP of Widescreen?

Rupert was very complimentary about the book, and he was delighted that his name appeared in it, and that part of one character bears at least some resemblance to part of his career.

DR FJL - Any chance that you'll be heading up to Williamstown some time in the next few weeks?

I thought Will Rogers was wonderfully staged.  I thought Keith Carradine was charming.  I thought Tammy Minoff was cute as a button.  But, the book was truly horrid (apologies to Betty and Adolf), and if that yokel in the box seat had stood up one more time and said, "Let's go flying, Will" I would have screamed.

I'm watching Follow the Fleet - I love the song Let Yourself Go - if Guy Haines ever does another album, it will definitely be on it.

DR Michael Shayne - Psycho Drama was on the original Widescreen. In Rupert's recent box set, Cast of Characters, he says this:

"As for 'Psycho Drama', yes it was a pretty psychotic idea for a fledgling singer-songwriter to allocate ten minutes of his debut LP to an original radio show, but I thought it might better convey that I wanted to make musical movies where the listener provided the cinematography...which was exactly how 'Old Time Radio' worked during it's golden age. Just read that The Boatniks is being released in full screen. Was this originally shot for TV and released to theaters? Never saw the film but I read the book in school, It had pictures from the film.

Jose:  We won't be able to get to Williamstown to see stuff, too tied down by the dogs with no one to watch them these days, but we're big Mizer and Moore fans here.    My b.f. actually works for Curtis as one of his day jobs.

Thanks for linking the trickybox website - I didn't know about it before - lots of great stuff there!

"Let Yourself Go" is one of those tunes that I need to sit down at the piano with one day and actually figure out a decent accompaniment to/for it.  The standard sheet music version just does not sound good - at least to my ears.  Melody doubled in the left, chords in the right hand - at least in the verse and bridge.  Just not supportive for a singer.

...And that's that.

Ah!  Shall I go ahead and say HI to Curtis for your b.f. then?

Speaking of Picayune, I actually worked at a firm (Gosh, is it really 20 years ago now?) where one of the bosses was named Herb Huene, and he was indeed very exacting and annoying about senseless detail, and some of his employees did call him "Picky Huene."

Probably meaningless, but that's the only Picayune story I have.  :)

And on that note.. A G below middle-C...  I shall have to head off to the land of the Wussburgers.  We're starting a bit earlier tomorrow, and we're also getting a new finale for the show too.  So, some sleep would be a good thing.

Goodnight.

And if there's a piicture of them dancing with Lauren Bacall, that would make a lovely page break dance photo someday, wouldn't it?  :)

Well... I'm back...

I was just checking out the NY Times website, and came across a review for a new play called Saint Frances of Hollywood.  It's about a certain actress near and dear to certain DR's hearts.

Thanks, all, for so many good wishes and condolences. Another day has whisked by... they all do lately. Where does it go? And gone. And never comes again. Ah, well - a good ride. And off I toddle to bed. Sweet dreams, y'all!

Here's another meaningless story:

I had my library privileges suspended because the people there said I ate a book.

Can you believe that?
