So last night I was hungry for something simple, and since what I sometimes do for something simple is make a serving or two of pasta with just butter and herbs, I decided to do that.
As I was taking the pasta out of the cupboard (folks, just so you know, I'm a heathen and have never made my own pasta), I spied a lonely plum tomato sitting in the bowl on the counter. Since we'd been talking all day about mac and cheese and I'd been remembering my mother's with tomato in it, I decided to cut this one up and just stir the fresh pieces into the bowl. Just to get that tomato-y taste thing going. And you know what? It was delicious. Just the cool (or room temperature) pieces of fresh tomato (which I'd already seasoned with fresh ground pepper and sea salt) stirred in with the hot buttered & herbed pasta. Absolutely delicious. You can expect a repeat on this one very soon.
