Wildfires in Kelowna, BC and the Northwest Territories.

Oh, no! :-\

Hope Jed enjoyed the show.

I saw him after the show and he really seemed to enjoy it.

I didn't get a chance to chat with him, though.

Our new Friday night tradition is to go to the in-laws retirement home and have dinner and then watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

I’ve not regularly watched these in decades especially Wheel. The show has changed so much since last I paid attention. Speed rounds, crossword puzzles, other gimmicks to keep it fresh.

Still glacially paced and hard to fathom Vanna White has been doing her thing since I was like 12.

A former co-worker said that her (adult) daughter was on Wheel of Fortune, and the contestants were told that if for any reason the episode didn't air, they wouldn't actually get any of the prizes that they won on the show.  The prizes are essentially paid for by the advertising, so if they aren't advertised on the show when broadcast, they wouldn't be paid for.

There was a big cultural zeitgeist in the late ‘80s when Sajak got his own talk show (flop) and Vanna hit her own TV movie (embarrassment). Then they stayed in their lane for 40 years raking in cash.

I remember both of those "events." ::)

I would be so terrified until it aired!

And just because, here's Janis Siegel and Fred Hersch performing their duet rendition of "That Old Black Magic."

I love this version because for most of it, the time signature that they're playing in is 5/4.

Remember when Chuck Woolery hosted? And after every round, the contestants would “shop” for prizes? And there were always ceramic Dalmatians that nobody ever wanted?

My former co-worker was...probably more than her daughter!

Especially, if they won some big money and then weren't able to get any of it! :o

Yes!  That was when it was on during the day.
