While not the worst storm, we had major clean-up to do in Ashland after heavy rains. It flooded a large area near our driveway, and did some major damage. Keith spent two days shoveling mud, plus he helped the neighbor above us get the road passable so they could use it.

The neighbors had called our road guy who left his out of town company to help, still Keith was needed to shovel up there.

Just as the road was finally able to be driven their daughter came rushing up in her car very sick and needed to get home FAST. Later we saw the wife driving back out to pick up medication. They really appreciated Keith's help, and we all appreciated the road guy rushing out to us.

We were planning to leave town as were the neighbors. Someone had to stay in case there were more problems with the road so we volunteered. It was easier for us since they were flying to Hawaii with their entire family.

My cousin said the official figure for total rain is 6.97 inches. Her horse now has a pond and she has been shoveling mud all morning in the dog yard, and there is still a ton left.

I was in the basement in April 3, 1974. A series of tornadoes touched down in Louisville. The devastation was amazing and brutal. Our neighborhood was untouched. A school mate came over to work on a project. All he wanted to do was look at all the tall oaks we had standing.

I found it very annoying to open articles that were supposedly up to date info on the storm, mostly to find images of Baja flooding.

The news follows the most damage. Quite a bit was done in east L.A.

Storms do not impact every area equally. Major storms like a tropical one do cover more area than passing storm systems.

I'd say thank your lucky stars if your area was spared. There are many areas where devastation occurred.

First week when we moved to Delaware (the 2nd time) we had tropical storm rains that flooded our basement; 2nd week a tornado that led to more basement flooding and trees down. It mellowed out after that.
