I was thinking if the show is at 1 pm then we should meet after 11 am or is that too much time, Vixmom?

Saw that Robert Brustein died at 96. One of his plays was about Lee Strasberg and Marilyn Monroe.

Back from a good rehearsal - still two scenes to go in act two, which we'll do first thing tomorrow night, then we'll go back to act one and do detail work on the first two-thirds, as we already did the last third of the act that way. Thursday will be a run-through no matter how rough. We drilled a lot tonight, which is very helpful. I spent the first thirty minutes giving the cast some cuts I made - the person who did this adaptation has a bad habit of writing a line that needs a response, writing four lines after it that have nothing to do with the response, and THEN we get it - so, I'm removing those instances and it plays so much better.

My worst moments as a director come from people not learning their lines. Because there’s only so much direction you can give beyond “Learn the damn lines!” I had a whole scene in a show I just basically gave up on because the woman would get so lost and I told the two other poor actors stuck in the scene that they could do literally anything they wanted to save things. It was a black hole in the show. I still cringe to think of it.

Yikes!

I know it wasn't that bad, but sometimes I felt like I was that black hole when I was in A Murder is Announced. ::)

I wish we had kids here.  I only saw one little boy in a costume today.

I've been holed up here at home with the front lights off.

First there was LOL (laughing out loud).

Then came ROFL (rolling on the floor laughing) and LMAO (laughing my ASS off).

And now there is IJBOL (pronounced eej-bowl). It stands for "I just burst out laughing."

Honestly.

I've never seen nor heard of IJBOL, nor do I expect to ever use it.

Speaking of long, one of my favorite Aaron Copland folk song settings:

Simple, but so beautiful.

Very nice!

So what does everyone think about Aaron Tveit and Sutton Foster going into Sweeney Todd?

I didn't love what I saw/heard of her in The Music Man, but at least Mrs. Lovett isn't supposed to be a soprano. ::)
