Home from the show. The traffic was horrible.

The choreography was the high point of this staging. That is, until the title song, which suddenly looked like a bad 80s video.

I hadn’t realized until later that it’s been more than 30 years since I had seen the show live. That was the production that confused JCS with Godspell and had Jesus carry balloons with him. It wasn’t as good as the other production I saw that year. In that one, Jesus was dressed like exercise Jane Fonda, including leggings, and the choreography was all out of an exercise video.

In both, Christ rose at the end, in direct opposition to the point of the show.

Needed something silly tonight. Starting Muppet Treasure Island, which has, so far, a couple of interesting Barry Mann-Cynthia Weil songs and a bombastic Hans Zimmer score.

The stage manager said that a couple people left at intermission, but I wasn't keeping track of how many were there, so I didn't notice. :-\

Otherwise, there were about 25 or so people in the audience tonight...at the most.

Since we're all pretty loose, I said that the two others could come back on another day.

We only have two performances left, so there's not much time.

And what this item was was the double Blu-ray set of both recorded performances of the two casts for John Caird and Maoko Imai's stage adaptation of Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away.

I had previously <ahem> [SHH!!] obtained ::) digital copies of both versions, but the subtitle files were based on auto-translate-from-Japan-to-English translations, so they were quite inaccurate.

Not only do I now have the officially released (and legitimately purchased) copy of both versions, I'll finally have the official and accurate translations!

Both casts are individually available from Amazon Prime Video, so that's convenient for those who like to rent/purchase videos that way.

Here's a YouTube trailer for when both versions were shown in theaters (like Fathom Events, but not through Fathom Events):

And if you click here:

you'll get a lot of information from when it was shown in the theaters, including the cast lists and pictures and interviews and articles and just a lot more information. :)
