Much as I love Robert Russell Bennett's orchestrations, I think he was the wrong guy for the Broadway production of Bells Are Ringing. The movie charts leave Bennett in the dust.

Well the FIRST performer I loved was Miss Annette Funicello.....followed by Lonnie Burr, Tim Considine, and Tommy Kirk - all Disney and Mickey Mouse Club related performers.

DR RON PULLIAM and I probably saw BELLS ARE RINGING on Indy TV at the same time.

WFBM [now WRTV] Channel Six showed a big movie in COLOR on Saturday night......and one of them was BELLS ARE RINGING.

It was glorious and everything that MR BK writes about.  I was singing and dancing those songs for a couple of weeks afterwards.  I finally found the soundtrack LP several years later - pre internet you were at the mercy of Thrift Stores, Rummage Sales, and cut outs from the grocery store.

I really liked Carroll Baker in the 1960's - she's still my favorite.

Others:

Elvis Presley
Troy Donahue
Mary Martin
Ethel Merman
Natalie Wood
Steve McQueen
Fabian

And then came THE BEATLES and everything else was history!

I had to get up early to go meet someone and pick up music for a student recital/concert I'm playing in January. (Five days before the first cataract surgery, in fact.)

Now I'm back, I've had a bagel (which wasn't very good), coffee (I could use some more), and the guy from the local oil/fuel company is here starting the annual maintenance checkup on the furnace.

So while he's going in and out and puttering around in the basement, I'm upstairs ketchuping on things various and sundry.

Moving Day greetings!  We are not as ready as I’d like to be, but we’re ready enough.

It is a bit easier when it doesn't all have to be completed in one day and then the house locked up for good.

I was awake between 2 and 3am, but used that hour to solve one furniture problem and one curtain quandary in my mind.

I'm surprised you slept as well as you did.  Solving the problems in your mind must have helped you fall back to sleep.

TOD:

For the longest time, my favorite actress was Susan Hayward...an opinion formed when I first saw "With A Song in My Heart".

Susan Hayward was one of my favorite actresses when I was young.  I thought she was beautiful like my mother.

Now I am in the mood to watch Judy Holliday in Bells Are Ringing.  It has been years since I've seen it.
