I think I'd like to read a biography of Dickens.

It seems there are quite a lot. How to decide?

There's one by Claire Tomalin; I loved her biography of Jane Austen.

All of last night's TV programming was of little interest to me except that one channel was airing "Love, Actually" back to back.

I know I saw it when it was first out on home video.  I don't remember what I thought of it other than Emma Thompson turning in a splendid performance.

For weeks now, I have been reading FB comments by people who adore the film and could not wait to see it during the holidays.  I did not remember it being particularly "holiday-ish", but yes...it does have a Christmas theme to some of it.

Folks seem divided into two camps:  Those who adore the film and those who do not.  I agree with them.

I watched a couple of hours of it last night (could not stay awake for the ending, but recorded it for later).  Some of it came back to me, and I guess I remember the bits I thought were very good and forgot the parts that didn't click for me.

Oddly, it probably resonates better now that I'm some 20 years older.  Emma Thompson is still superb.  Even the characters that did not impress me initially made more sense to me.

I am not convinced it's one of the great Christmas-themed "must-sees" for me, but it's interesting enough to watch once in a while.

I find it amusing that Hugh Grant, in his "Wonka" interviews, expresses disdain for that film and his part in it as an Oompa Loompa.  And he has also chimed in about how much he disliked making "Love, Actually' and the dance he had to do in it.  That dance is what most folks remember about his performance, but Grant seems determined to express sardonic disdain for things he should take a bit of pride in.

I've given up reading celebrity interviews for this reason. I may like a performance and don't need to read the person bash what I think is good work.

That said, Grant's best performance, IMO, is in Paddington 2.

Alice Parker, dean of American choral music, died yesterday at 98. She was closely associated with Robert Shaw in the early days.

My DH just spoke to her about a week ago.

It is nearly six hours later than when I first posted, and I am happy to report that I was able to use my CPAP and sleep soundly during that time.

Getting ample sleep is of utmost importance, is it not!

We are supposed to be getting egregious amounts of rain today and tomorrow, but we have gray skies and dry everything, thus far.

It would not be the first time storms were predicted that do not happen.  Weather patterns can change rather quickly.

And now that I have digressed into talking about the weather, I shall excuse myself to make coffee, have a muffin and busy myself on my cell phone with social media.

It is. Congratulations!

My mask has been too loose lately. Adjusted it last night and slept much better.

Ray Faiola, of Chelsea-Rialto studio which has preserved many classic film scores, offered this wonderful Christmas suite conducted by Max Steiner with the Warner Brothers Orchestra.

I would like to thank DR RODZINSKI and DR JOHN G for their comments on the MAC.  There was one more mention but
I am not sure who that was.

Sad to read the articles that DR IRIS posted about Goodreads.

Back in the wild and wooly days of the inner web....there was a site called Epinions that one could join and then posts reviews of movies, DVDs, books, and products.

I think you were paid one penny for each "read" your reviews got.  I did a lot of DVD reviews.

I think I earned about $30 total in the first six months or so.

Then I posted a review of the DVD Mae West's last movie Sextette, and I just mentioned that while her personality had still worked in Myra Breckenridge - that here it was sad to watch....

At that point some man joined Epinions specifically to say horrible things about me and my review and then went to ALL my reviews and wrote terrible things and gave me ONE STAR, etc. - the usual actions.

And looking at his profile you could see he wrote NO reviews of his own nor did he comment on any other reviews on the site.

Some people have too much time on their hands.

I enjoyed reading about DR VIXMOM and DR RON PULLIAM's days yesterday.

And I enjoyed reading about the church experiences of DR singdaw and DR JOHN G.

Wild story. But sadly all too believable.

Been listening to Maureen McGovern’s Christmas album. She has some beautiful cuts on there, including a soft and haunting I Wonder as I Wander.

I loved this article. Annabelle loves mine, but the jury is still out with Thatch and Stella. I think the sound spooks them.

It took me 2.5 hours to clean up and vacuum the apartment. The vacuum was acting up, and I finally finished cleaning up the kibble and tracked litter on my hands and knees with the Dustbuster. I must say, though, the place looks so much better.
