I haven't seen all that many films this year, but of the ones I've seen, I've certainly seen my favorite just now. And not a shaky cam in sight, not an overblown moment in sight, not any "now" direction in sight, not any sops to today in sight, a lovely valentine of a movie and a throwback to the kinds of movies Hollywood used to know how to make, with actual human characters behaving as they should - no Screenwriting 101 idiocy - you care about the people, it's very funny and moving and everything a movie should be. Perhaps the best-reviewed movie of the year, currently at 99% on Rotten Tomatoes, for those who care about such things. And, of course, a complete flop at the box-office. It ought to be up for a slew of Oscars, including Best Screenplay and Director - it won't be. More in the notes, but, special shout out to anyone who can name the film before then.
